A neighbor down the street's dog just went on a nasty rampage. The owners 10 year old was walking their golden retriever and it broke free, killed two smaller dogs that were also being walked by someone else, bit a few kids and a cop. Then it ran off into the woods and they were able to get it with a police dog. There had to be a dozen cops running up and down the street trying to get the thing.

Animal control took it away. I'm sure they will be putting it down.

a golden retriever???? wow.. that's uncharacteristic. just goes to show that it's not always the "mean" and "nasty" breeds that flip shit.

sucks :(

That's what I'm thinking. Surprised the cop didn't shoot the dog.

Seems to be the consensus, but.... a GOLDEN???

I've had 2 in my lifetime and the most i've ever seen out of them is when you get near their food. This one had to have had a screw loose.

Oh please, as my dog trainer told me ANY dog can bite!!

I've never been bitten by a so called 'aggressive' breed. I have been or nearly bitten by poodles (2), wiener dogs, a chocolate lab, and had 2 goldens jump my mix breed.

Whatever!! Stereotyping for the lose.

My guess was that it had to do with a change in its lifestyle. The couple just had a new baby a few weeks ago, and the dog had been left in the garage instead of the house. I don't know if they did it because it was acting aggressive or just to keep it away from the new baby.

No was in the house, came outside to smoke, and my block was covered in cop cars and my niegbor (whos son was bit) was talking to the cops. The cops asked me if I saw anything then told me what happened.

Just goes to show ya... as said... it ain't the breed.

That being said, the best part about Brinks. The breed is so rare it's never on any of those "lists".

If he did we would be talking about a national news story on MSNBC saying the cop went too far.

On a military base? Something like that would be kept real quiet.

Also found out that the golden retriever only killed one dog, not two. The second dog was just hurt real bad. The kids that got bit were not hurt bad, one had a deep bite, the others were just scratches, probably from the dogs paws. The kid with the deep bite was also walking the other dogs.

So did the kid who actually get bit throw himself into a dog fight? Kinda what it sounds like...

In any case, sucks for all concerned. I'd be pissed too if I got locked in the garage. Great way to socialize the dog to the new family member. Not.

I cant say for sure, but it sounded like the bigger dog carried the smaller dog and the kid never let go, then the other kids tried to help him.

If it was a suspected rabies case, we wouldn't. They don't play with rabies.

The problem with the aggressive breeds is some of the stereotypical owners more than the dogs themselves.

I figured that was assumed. And don't forget the riced out sebring in the driveway (or the bondo-special eclipse)
