They can't spot a gun in a fucking carry-on bag, but think a backscatter will do better? Good grief.
I sneak a pair of nail clippers and a lighter on every flight, they never catch it, but I cant imagine how they could miss a glock. And what teh article said about how many successful attempts they usually get through is pretty amazing

I don't think nail clippers are banned any more. I'm not sure about lighters.
Whatever you do, do not take a snow globe! I took this pic in NYC, in July:

But apparently a Glock is okay.

With the facial recognition software and other technology.... can't they just scan bags with Google Goggles to detect items that aren't allowed? You would think the human element would be used as a backup at this point...

Good question.
But, they'd rather spend hundreds of millions on bodyscanners that simply force terrorists to put their bombs in their carry-on instead of in their underwear.
Wow, let's spend hundreds of millions to prevent terrorists from putting a bomb or weapon in the most difficult and most inconvenient place to hide it. Meanwhile the easiest place to hide a bomb goes gets past TSA scott-free.

I don't get it. You guys complain when the TSA started patting you down (more security), but complain when a gun gets past security (less security). Well, which way is it? You can't have ur cake and eat it too here. Something has to slip by if every piece of luggage brought on board isn't hand checked. People are going to overlook shit, especially when they are looking at thousands of bags every hour and the lines for security checks are long.
The next step is....you cannot bring anything on board.

The problem is hypocrisy. You can't sexually assault people, treat them like terrorists, berate them, and make their lives hell in the name of security if you're going to miss someone sailing through your checkpoint with a loaded fucking handgun.

I don't see anyone complaining. We're just reinforcing that the TSA is a bunch of bumbling idiots with horrible policy...
They don't solve any problems.
The only proof whether they actually "work" or not is the same as deer whistles. As long as you don't hit a deer, they work...

When I works with Security Forces I'd get pulled to go do security tests for TSA in Gulfport. I'd strap all kinds of things up under my sack (brought my own Lysol) and bully my way through security. I got a loaded handgun, a big-ass knife, and a simulated bomb through, just by being an impatient dick. Those guys are idiots.
