Well it's been a month since I put the bikes up. They got a good bath, wax, and oil change.

Also added this nice tray in the saddlebag. Will be nice for my sunglasses, camera, whatever I don't want rattling around in the bag.

Maintenance items: (both really easy)
Front brake pad replacement (2 bolts & 1 pin per caliper)
Front fork oil replacement (drain plug R&R, remove dash piece to fill)
Gloss black powder:
saddlebag surrounds
horn cover
tank dash
air cleaner cover
starter cover
rear fender struts
license plate brackets
Flat black high temp powder (the powder will be more durable than ceramic, flat cause gloss will loose its shine over time & miles):
heat shields
mufflers
ceramic (gray-color doesn't matter) the exhaust pipes for an added heat barrier
This has always been the only read cosmetic mods I ever thought of for the last 2 years of ownership. Always said I might do this one day...
So I started into the bike...
All of this chrome needs to go (saddle bag surrounds, rear fender struts, plate bracket, mufflers)

Not much to report on the Ultra.
The LED I bought from HD 2 years ago never was all that good.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/Mods055.jpg
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/Mods/2KX%20Winterize%20N%20Mod/WinterProject037.jpg
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/Mods/2KX%20Winterize%20N%20Mod/WinterProject038.jpg
So I bought 2 things to try from my friends at www.superbrightleds.com
This neat little thing that comes with all the different connectors.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/Mods/2KX%20Winterize%20N%20Mod/WinterProject040.jpg
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/Mods/2KX%20Winterize%20N%20Mod/WinterProject041.jpg
But it ended up just looking like this square group of LEDs.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/Mods/2KX%20Winterize%20N%20Mod/WinterProject043.jpg
So I decided to go with the other option. A 360* high powered led jobber
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/Mods/2KX%20Winterize%20N%20Mod/WinterProject039.jpg
So here's the HD
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/Mods/2KX%20Winterize%20N%20Mod/WinterProject044.jpg
The superbright hotness
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/Mods/2KX%20Winterize%20N%20Mod/WinterProject045.jpg
The superbright version lights the entire lens (regardless of the pic), where as the HD one is like little LED dots.
I picked up a bunch of powder which has gavin me a proper excited state. I just need to find time to mount it up.

This really should have been posted last week, but was busy with my buds wedding and doing best man stuff for that. But...
Got some stuff back from powder.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/Mods/2KX%20Winterize%20N%20Mod/WinterProject078.jpg
Detail cleaned that stuff, and light wax job on it.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/Mods/2KX%20Winterize%20N%20Mod/WinterProject081.jpg
New air cleaner ring installed on the cover
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/Mods/2KX%20Winterize%20N%20Mod/WinterProject079.jpg
Installed and even with the chrome center nut it keeps the mix of chrome/black
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/Mods/2KX%20Winterize%20N%20Mod/WinterProject082.jpg
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/Mods/2KX%20Winterize%20N%20Mod/WinterProject083.jpg
Starter cover done black. Never understood why they chromed (to bring attention to it) such a pointless cover.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/Mods/2KX%20Winterize%20N%20Mod/WinterProject086.jpg
Put the center back in the tank dash. This is going to be a great chrome/black highlight piece as you'll see.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/Mods/2KX%20Winterize%20N%20Mod/WinterProject080.jpg
Chrome gas cap cover with the black willie g skull... I think it looks great.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/Mods/2KX%20Winterize%20N%20Mod/WinterProject090.jpg
Plus the black right against the black pearl (gray) paint.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/Mods/2KX%20Winterize%20N%20Mod/WinterProject091.jpg
Waiting on some key parts to get the saddle bags back on and the ceramic stuff done on the pipes. Stay tuned...
I hope I never ride near enough to you to be blinded by the sun reflecting off your bike

I love it...
This exhaust bracket was bare metal from HD, and you could see it. I fixed that, high temp powder and a new chrome bolt to replace the rusted old one.

Then I borrowed a 1 3/8" wrench from a tech at work... to remove the fork caps. Then remove the drain plugs and let the forks drain.

With 15,500 miles on my Ultra, the dealership mechanic was surprised I was on the original brake pads. He said, most people only get 10k out of them. I figure my amount of miles is due to my road trips on the highway.
I'm always amazed by how little pad material is actually on new pads. But they are suppose to be 4.5mm or bigger. Mine were 1.8 - 2.9mm.

It's always a nice feeling to get some good preventative maintenance done to the bike. All that is left to do is get & hang exhaust.

Well I had everything but the exhaust on the bike and it kept bugging me that the front still looked stock. So I tore the front light dept all apart and removed some pieces for gloss black powder.

Picked up the ceramic exhausts... love the way ceramic looks, hate how easy it is to scratch. But love even more how well it absorbs/controls heat. Did the Ultra pipes in a flat black, because it will hide better behind the high temp powdered heat shields and big reason is to control the heat.

Will pick up the front fairing bib, and light bar Monday. The 3 light rings, "out-gassed" real bad when heated for powdering, so my powder guy (http://www.jpcoatings.com/), is going to get a primer that controls out gassing and re-powder them again. He won't settle for anything but perfect, which is why we get along so well.
After that, I'm done with the Ultra and therefor all the winter time bike projects.

Gas,
When you roll the bike out for it's first ride of the season do me a favor:
Take a pic of the entire bike as it is now (front and profile preferred) and post them up with the same (or similar) pics from when it was new.
You've done so much and so many of the pics are up close I want to see a whole bike side by side before and after. :dthumb:

Will do! I know these are up close shots... but I'm all crammed up in the garage...
But yes the list seems to be growing...
I also no longer have the lower fairings, and engine bar on the bike... the bar has to get blacked... its the missing piece to tie it all in.

Well I got to looking at my overall appearance of the bike as stated earlier... The front end still looked completely stock and didn't show the efforts I put into the fairing backwards on the bike. Again, I'm a perfectionist so I had to do something... well a few weeks ago I got the front end parts back.

But then after I had already dismissed the engine/roll bar many times... a few buds commented about it... which was all it took to send me over the edge of my powder crazy....

Not really. The whole cost on my bike is for this project was like $500-550. Less than what most spend on pipes, and a fraction of what cave spent on his this "mod season".
