That totally stood out for me too.
The things some people do to their vehicles in the name of "style". :rolleyes:

other than the camber, and the shitty bodywork right above it, i kinda like it. front half of the car, lines & stance looks sweet, back half looks really sedan like, boring.

I think camber is f'ed cause it's bagged and sitting on frame. I bet he air's it up to his "driving" height and it's fine.
But I like it...

Great link.
There are some seriously cool cars on there.
I don't think being Japanese (or German) excludes a car from being a Rat Rod. I do think being less than 25 years old does though.
I love the KDF Mangler.

Half of those aren't what I think of when I think Rat Rod. A junked up car sitting in an alley in Jamaca does not make a Rat Rod.
This is a rat rod.... custom, chopped, dropped, over the top.

I love cars with patina, especially old hot rods, but if they have more rust than metal or would not pass a safety inspection...its just a hunk of shit to me and does not deserve to be noticed. Rat rods started as cars that were all together, but the interior was ratty or the paint was not done/matched. the fuckin greaser/hillbillies took the idea and just went overboard with it, not cool to drive a rusted out, no floorboard havin, drum braked piece of shit with a backyard top chop and call it a "Specialty Hot Rod".

Speaking of rats, I just found a nice fat one under the hood of a car I was jumping :Eek:

As a lover of old things, I hear this term "patina" all the time.
I find that it roughly translates to "needs a proper cleaning" :lol:

Aged copper that looks like an old penny for lines, mag wheels that have the look like they lived their life on the salt flats and paint that has been cooked in the sun and worn off from years of use or work...not dirty...aged and worn.

We all comment on things we know nothing about but it's gotten amazing in this thread...
ATTENTION OLD MEN;
A dropped car will give the appearance of bad camber when resting on it's frame. The camber will correct itself when the vehicle is raised to "drive height". Quite often an operator of said vehicle will drop the vehicle while it is in motion to create sparks to "wow" onlookers. Typically, they attach plates onto the body for these drag shots.
:lol:
Next you old geezers will complain that there's been a suspension malfunction in this vehicle;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFUiEAPOqBI
Or that the frame is bent on this one;

Maybe at one point in the 80's when Cheech and Chong was still relevant, lowriders\hydraulics might have been cool.

These "drag " cars are stupid popular down here in tn and I will admit when ur down town and one drops and sends a shower of sparks it looks cool for .5 seconds
After that just plain dumb

Nah I think it's straigh up entertaining... especially when I'm not the one paying for the repairs.
I myself would love to bag my car... Park it in the lot... and pssssssss sittin on frame.

I thought that looked pretty AWESOME but of course, I haven't pre-filled my AARP card yet. Some of you guys honestly HATE ANYTHING "trendy". Clothes, bike mods, Harleys, car mods, Gixxers, hair streaks, Ed Hardy, TV shows, music, etc... You would all be Goth but unfortunately, that's cool now too.:lol: If more than three people do something, you all hate it!:wink:
