View Full Version : Helmet: Fits like a Shoei X-11
I am looking for a shoei x-11 or a deep discounted similar fitting helmet. I think the Shark RSX fits similar.
Tigger, find me a too good to be true deal, please.
I wear a Shoei X-11 medium. Something that fits like that would be great.
I want a solid color, white or black would be great.

Thanks for the size info... be right back.

The big fin keeps ripping screws out, it's great for the trails, sucks on the interstate. I had it duct taped up for the BRP trip because I lost a screw on the interstate getting to the start of it. I want something without the fin for the cross country trip, especially if Drewpy comes.

just take the fin of... didn't yours come with the conversion pieces?
and you must ride a hell of a lot faster than I do... or your wind shield causes some mad buffeting... cause I've never had that issue. :idk:

your bike doesn't go over 100. Mine easily does. LOL
I could do the conversion, but honestly, it makes the helmet look stupid. I want a low priced helmet for the trip.

It does too... down hill... ok more like a cliff... LOL
but then again you also have a wind shield... I don't.
well let me know what you think about going back to a normal helmet... the field of vision in the Hornet is what keeps me from wanting another... ya know?

I still use my busted X-11. If I plan on doing speed or ride the fiddy, I wear my X-11. I use the hornet when I do dual sport. I like both for different reasons. I really want a cheap one so I can cut the shell by my ears to put the speakers of my sena more inset so they don't rub my ears as much. That's a problem with the hornet, long use causes my ears to hurt with the speakers, so I want to get a cheap helmet for the trip I don't mind shaving the shell.

Consider the Bell, large field of vison, light, decent lid, adjustable sizing via included cheek pads, solar fx shield, etc. Just the thing for a long trip.

Especially for a modular. If I were doing a mod, there would be no contest!
Hit up Riders Discounton the WERA boards. Got a Kagayama X12 for $592 shipped, which isn't too bad. X11's are probably much, much cheaper. Especially the solid colors.

yeah, I want a deep discounted helmet for a backup helmet, not a $600 waste of money.

"Probably"? I linked 3 X-11s for around $300...:idk:

I wasn't talking about getting a X12.

yeah I am thinking about one of those, I may go for a real cheaper model because I don't know how much this one is going to get used. I have my X-11 for fiddy racing, DS Hornet for normal use. This one will probably just be a high speed helmet that gets very light use.

Any interest in a modular? HJC for $65...

I am not a mod fan, but that's a pretty good deal. I need to get my ass to cycle gear and try some lids on and see what I like.

I disagree about the Shark fitting similar to Shoei. Most Shoeis are "intermediate oval" while most Sharks are pretty round. What this means is that Shoei gives you more room front-to-back than Shark does. I can't pull a Shark on past my nose, but I fit an X11.
Most Sharks fit like the old Arai Quantum .........Good for Chinese and other people with wide, round faces, but not good for most Europeans because their heads are usually longer front-to-back than they are side to side. Now they do make 1 or 2 models (the S-800 or something?) that have an oval fit, but all of their high-end helmets like the RSR are pretty round. Pissed me off because I like their paint jobs and visors.

The discontinued shark rsx was very similar to the x11. I don't think any of the new lines fit similar. I haven't tried any of the new ones though.

Is this guy really debating the helmet king? Shark, like Arai makes several helmet models and each model has a designated head shape. BUT the new range has relaxed that a bit and Shark's high end lids are now more intermediate, so you may be able to get into a Race R Pro. There are also the newer old models which included the RSF3, RSF2i, S650, etc.
Old-old models;
RSR2-round
RSX-oval
RSI-intermediate oval
S-500-low end/intermediate

The Vison R and the Race R pro both look interesting....

Do that, quite frankly, you may fall in love with the old HJC FS-15, it is supposedly VERY light and it's on clearance everywhere...if you're looking for a "cheap" lid for occasional use.:idk:
I went tried on some lids tonight. Cycle gear really had a poor selection. It turned more into a harley/dirt store since the last time I have been there. Poor selection of helmets.
All they had was a few shoeis and then some crap in store brand. They had the shoei and shark modulars, sad that modulars were the only helmet I was interested in, in that shithole.
I tried on the evoline 2 ST. I am not a fan of the modular system, but I like how it had speaker compartments built in. I need to find a helmet with that, much better than cutting up the foam.

Bell Star has speaker ports.
