Winter cold has dried my hands terrible, despite several applications of lotion...ON MY HANDS you perverts.
Anyhow I get this cut on the tip of my right thumb aggrevated by the dryness it cracks further and wont heal.
The tragedy is it is my TV remote thumb, my text mssg thumb, and much to my son's chagrin, my Lego application thumb.
Just sayin'

And, its even more effective if you put it on right after a hot shower, then put some plastic gloves on.

Make sure you drink plenty of water too. You need to stay hydrated during the winter to reduce the chance of your skin cracking.

I used to get them when I worked at ups and they frekin sucked. Would almost heal up over the weekend then cracked open again while at work.
Be careful with some of the rubber gloves, the powdered ones can dry your hands out more.

Less time in the shower and lower the water temp. Steaming hot water washes away too much of your body oil. Another thing is how hard the water is in your area. It's really hard here so you feel "meh" when you're done.
FYI. I always wear a plastic glove over my hand.
step 1 pretend you're rossi
step 2 create one hundred fan accounts
step 3 bump thread a million times
step 4 complain about thumb for rest of life
step 5 ??????????
step 6 profit

This. As someone else said - it heals everything!
You could also do a paraffin dip after slathering on some lotion. It will help seal in the lotion.

That's cool that they make it out of pets, cows, and horses.

Do you have a humidifier in your house?
That too may help with the dryness. My hands get bad in the winter too because I'm typically working outside for the winter so my hands get to the point of bleeding they get so dry sometimes.
