This was posted on the Sheriff's website from the county I live in...

Deputies were called to the home of a Ruble Drive resident after the man reported that his home was struck by gunfire. The man said that he was standing in his living room when he heard a loud “pop” and noticed a bullet hole in the wall.

The man called our office and deputies responded and conducted an investigation. While doing so the... deputies spoke to the victim’s neighbor who had and interesting story to tell.

The man stated that he had been watching the TV show “MythBusters” and the segment addressed the ballistic stopping power of telephone books. The man took it upon himself to conduct his own ballistic testing. He did so in his living room.

The man placed a phonebook on his fireplace mantle, took careful aim with his 9mm pistol and fired three rounds at the phone book striking it once. All three of the rounds penetrated the wall of the suspect’s home then continued into the neighbors (the man who called us) home.

The suspect in this case is now facing felony charges of discharging a firearm into a inhabited dwelling.

As they say on MythBusters…”do not try this at home”.

They should have stuck his dumb ass back in his house and let the neighbor take three shots.

Actually no, it is not a trailer park. It is all decent houses with good space between each. My Aunt lives in one of them.

I still can't believe that 1.) he tried it and 2.) he couldn't hit the phone book but once.

This man should not own a gun if he can't hit a target the size of a PHONE BOOK.

I got a feeling he wasn't in the best condition to be doing much of anything when he attempted it.

True, the same substances that negatively affect judgement enough for this to have seemed like a good idea also tend to have a negative impact on aim.
