I find it kind of funny that it's based entirely on sarcastic proofreader's humor.

...and the fact that it's been adopted by so many other cultures.

It really is a joke gotten out of hand.

While on the subject, what strikes me as a big joke is the fact that retarded words and phrases keep getting added to the dictionary, such as 'chillax', yet seemingly no one takes the time to learn the established and true words that have been around for ages. :(
