In my case, they'd have to break my hands to release my grip

No shit, and to lug a 30lb Bag up with you that's swaying 10 ft below you.

I wonder how much they make a year...I'd have to take a month off after each climb just to be sane enough to do it again.

Yea, I'm not afraid of heights and I was good to go up until the small, open rungs on a pole part....that might have been the end for me...

On another note, I wonder why they don't wear parachutes? Must be the bulk.

Free climbing at that height?! You'd think they would design in a simple way to scale those things, since it's inevitable. Some of those maneuvers he had to make to get on different sections of the tower would be brutal to reverse on the way down.

Unless they pulled the cord before they started falling, they'd look like Wile E. Coyote when the canopy deployed after hitting the dirt like a lawn dart.

Jump, and hope there is one of those inflatable cushions at the bottom!

Or maybe you could somehow rapel?

Words cannot describe the amount of "no" I would exclaim if asked to do this.

Yeah, there is no way I'd get outside the tower for the free climbing. Normal heights dont bother me but that's insane!

At 1700ft? They would have a few seconds to pull. New River Gorge is only 876ft and they drop for a bit before they pull chute on bridge day.

Yeah I have my AA and AB tabs, have fast roped and jumped out of planes and would have no balls to climb that shit.

Just going by what we were told when we went sky diving. Maybe it has to do with canopy size?

Still can't imagine doing that on a regular basis. It has to be mentally exhausting knowing the consequences of one missed hand or foot placement.

I searched...didn't see the thread...oh well, blow me. Its still a sick video!

I'd have to say a big negative on that one. I'm not scared of heights, but that's mainly because I've never been up that high. Top ot the T-tail on a C-5 is far enough for me.

Yea I have my AB and took AA repel training...I don't think that I could pull this off though. WAY too much time to think...

That's what I was thinking. A compact, "quick chute" would at least give you a chance of survival. You'd still hit the deck like jumping off a 3+ story building though...:idk:

As compared to being hit by a freight train going full out it's better than nothing. Course, keeping both feet on the freaking ground is far better than all that shit :lol

That's nothing short of insane. Of course, those guys get paid insane amounts of money, too. I've actually considered looking into that job, but my feet got sweaty just watching that shit. No way in hell could I free climb that high.
