Yea that guy got knocked the fuck out, hilariously. I think the victim should've kicked his bitch ass in the ribs a few times for good measure though.

I had the same rules when I was growing up. I BETTER not ever start a fight, but I had my dads permission to finish anything I needed to. Surprisingly, I never had to in school though I came close as a sophmore when a senior a foot taller than me started trying to bully me. I backed him down without swinging a punch in front of his friends and after that he tried to be friends with me. I told him to f*ck off

SYDNEY, Australia (WUSA) -- A video of a teen body-slamming a bully has gotten the world's attention.
The boy's name is Casey Heynes. According to reports, Heynes had been bullied by a group of boys at Chifley College High School in St. Mary's, Australia for a while.
The video shows two bullies throwing punches at Heynes, before he grabs the second boy and slams him to the ground.
A spokeswoman for the NSW Department of Education and Training at Chifley College, Dunheved Campus, the Australian high school said, "does not tolerate any violence and deals with all cases according to its community-agreed discipline code". "Both students in a fight at the school shown on the Internet have been suspended ... the only injury sustained was a grazed knee."

A guy I worked with 15 year old daughter was jumped by three other girls at school. Luckily her dad taught her to fight ( he's Italian ). She managed to beat the three enough to get away.
She went directly to the office to report the incident. There were at least a dozen witnesses.
All four got week long suspensions under the "zero tolerance" bullshit.

He's a teenager, not a 6 year old... And not many parents would discipline him for doing what he did... plus, the article said he's thankful of all the support he's been receiving online. Plus, you know when he goes back to school he's going to have at least 15 minutes of fame... Somehow I doubt this kid's at home crying.

What a crock of shit, glorifying violence and fightings not the answer. If this kids been antagonized for some time, he took it as long as he could. We dont know if he spoke to anyone about it, but he took all he could and directed it right back at the kid antagonizing him. its not like he tried to do a columbine and shoot up the school, he took care of the problem directly.
The kid being the bully obvioulsy hit him first and antagonized him so he got what he deserved. Now these experts ar eworried about the message it will send, hopefully it tells kids who are picked on to stand up for themselves, and a lot of times you call out the bullys of actualy fight them they back right down.

When I was a kid I was 5'4" and about 110lbs soaking wet until I was 14, when I put on about 40lbs when my dad got me into weights. I got picked on every day of my life until I got to the sixth grade. I'd fight back every time and get pummeled for it. My dad got tired of it and took me over to the other kid's house after one beating. Told the kid's dad what had been going on, and he called his son outside. They stood and watched while we had to fight it out right there. The kid was a lot bigger than me but my old man was watching, which I guess fired me up and I ended up beating the other kid pretty badly. I still got picked on after that, but my win/loss average changed pretty dramatically.

A 16 year who has to deal with 12 year olds (who are half his size) picking on him probably wont have too much satisfaction with "Yeah showed that little toddler"

Consouling
Disturbing imagery
Give me a fuckin break! Another great reason why I don't want kids. I would laugh at the school if they said my (if it was the big guy not the bully) needed consouling cause he threw that bully. No F'in way. I'd tell my kid I was proud of him, standing up for himself.
Fuck Michelle Obama... it's the way of life as a kid. And to play on an old saying "It's builds character". I'm not endorsing columbine style shit or any level of bullying that goes too far beyond. But this little type of crap is not anything that should make international news.
When we were kids, fighting was just normal. Its what young boys did. We all had something to prove at that age, and we did our best to do just that. Hell, at 16 I was fighting grown men in bars, standing up to guys bigger than me when Tmall was going to get a beatdown , and beating the fuck out of guys for calling down my mom. And to this day, I have never committed a violent crime.
I never understood the animosity towards kids being kids. No way in hell would I punish a child for standing up for himself, nor would I allow the school to tell me how to discipline my child.
Hell, in the early grades (1-9), I dont even remember ever getting suspended for fighting, ever. And we fought a lot. At worst we spent lunch inside for a day. And guess what? None of us grew up to be violent criminals.

He's from New Brunswick, so he may not be exaggerating much there. After all, a good New Brunswicker started drinking out of his father's glass (that's beer glass, 'cause there's no other kind) at 3 years of age, was fighting barely out of the womb, and sounds vaguely like a Cape Bretoner who was dropped on his head, at birth.

now days schools getway too carried away with counseling. my kid put a light hit on a player on the soccer field. he wound up going out of the game. (the other boy) the next week was filled with "does your son need any emotional help dealing with this situation?" what situation, it's a game, people get minor injuries all the time. the kid had the wind knocked out of him, that was all. he chose not to return to the game. I did speak to his parents afterward to check on him.
yes I have been told (by a parent)I would have to pay for a kids medical who had decided it would be fun to beat the crap out of the little turd at the ball diamond. unfortunately the little turd was pretty tough. cops came to the house and the whole 9. after all was said and done the cop told my son he had done a good job of defending himself, no charges or trouble. his mom got to pay her own medical bills.

They ask "does your son need any emotional help dealing with this situation?" because parents have a bad habit of suing the school when lil johnny blows his head off during the school year.
So no any little thing that occurs on school property or that is sanctioned by the school that may theoretically affect emotional health must be met with an action plan by the school. They are covering their ass.
I bet a large % of the nonsense you see at schools all started with some parent sending their lawyer after a district. Its a lot cheaper to have these lame policies in place than to fight it out in court.
summary...Parents fault.

I bet a large % of the nonsense you see at schools all started with some parent sending their lawyer after a district. Its a lot cheaper to have these lame policies in place than to fight it out in court.
summary...Parents fault.
I agree that is how it started but now days there are far too many people that are very "sensitive" to the oh I've hurt someone feeelings. Don't get me wrong I know they had nothing but good intentions, it was just a little hard not to laugh when they asked, after the first few times.

What people? Where are all these people concerned about feelings?
You must live in pussyville or something.
You should move to New Brunswick.
They throw down over everything. It's like TV scottland over there.

it's called living in a suburb that wants to be considered a "wealthy" community. soccer moms try to do what they think a "perfect world" community would do.
funny when I moved there I was stopped at least once a week by the cops basically because my car didn't "fit in" and I was coming home from second shift job. therefore I looked like a thief at night in a beater car.
now days I can afford better cars and have a much better job, I no longer live there, as it has gone very downhill in the last few years.

ok that one was not well written, I agree. no the soccer moms were not to blame for the problems. they were the ones being sensitive about the "injured" player. that brought the invitations for counseling from school staff because some of the moms were wworried.
the two statements should have been separated, the community as a whole wanted to give that we're wealthy and we "do the right thing" image.
after living there a few years I learned how big of a rouse that was. LOL

I agree with the sentiment but I still found the above inconsistencies funny.
It wasn't assault, he goaded me into fighting, it was mutually consentual. Im not sure how different your laws are than ours, but up here you cant be charged with a crime if both people are actively involved in the fight. Even if I hit you first, and you hit back in self defense, its no longer assault. Im not sure if thats still true in canada today, but back then it was not a crime in any way.
Now if I just attacked him for no reaon and he just sat there and took it, then thats assault. But im betting our laws are/were quite a bit different than ours.

Canada is such a strange an exotic place
Can I agree to fight somebody?
Depending on the circumstances, two people may agree to fight without creating an offence. Silence is not agreement. The fight must be fair and it cannot go beyond reasonable limits. Weapons of any kind can't be used. If you do injure the other person, you could be charged with assault if the force used was excessive in these circumstances.
What if somebody provokes me to fight?
That's no excuse. If you strike the other person, you could be charged with assault. However, a court might take into consideration the degree of provocation in lessening a sentence against you.
No matter who starts the fight, you have a right to self-defence. For example, if the person you are fighting pulls out a weapon, you have a right to defend yourself. However, you can use only as much force as is reasonably necessary to protect yourself from serious bodily harm or death.

You must have missed key phrases like 'back then' and 'was/were different'. Reading comprehension is your friend.
As I said, I dont know about todays laws, things have changed drasticly here over the years. But 15 years ago, doing anything besides trying to remove yourself from the situation was an 'agreement to fight'. I know this for a fact, as i've seen it many times not just with me, but with others.
I once saw a guy get attacked while sitting in the passenger seat of the car he was in. He got out, and proceeded to get beat down badly. Never even threw a punch or raised a hand. Tried to press charges against the guy, cops wouldnt allow it. By getting out of the car, he made a non-verbal agreement to fight. No charges pressed by the popo, and this guy was badly fucked up. Broken nose, black eyes, cracked cheekbone, multiple stitches. He later saw a lawer, he couldnt even legally have a tooth that was broken paid for by the guy who broke it.

If he was picked on for 3 years he might need it.
I blame his father. His father is the one that told him not to fight. You don't have to beat up every bully but you need to stand up for yourself. And if they start laying fist on you then need to spit teeth.
I don't want my kids fighting at school but if someone lays a hand on them I want them to lay them out. If the teachers can keep things under control I want my kids to protect themselves. I don't want them becoming a basket case because they bottle it up for years.

I have done the lunch inside and many trips to the office.
It was never for anything real big. I think for a bad fight there might be a couple days home but its nothing like it is now. They can't do shit in school now.

In Canada we don't "press charges", The Crown does in the name of The Queen.
Mutual combat is one thing. Police and The Crown would be fully willing to let the health care system clean it up, instead of the courts. Standing there and taking it isn't mutual combat, so there was likely something more going on. Odds are that they were local cops, who knew one or both the people involved.
You are permitted, under our laws, to defend yourself with sufficient force to stop the assault. No more. There is also an implied duty of retreat.

I feel for the big kid and totally agree that zero tolerance has gone too far. When I get around to having a kid, they will be taught that to defend oneself is fine, they'll never be punished for that, but I wont tolerate fighting just to fight or bullying of any kind. Maybe I'll home school to keep them outta this ZT BS.
The one and only fight I was ever in at school was because of constant bullying by a couple of boys and when all 90 lbs of me finally snapped after I got punched in class, they are just lucky I didnt have anything sharp or they might have required hospital stays. I beat the shit out of both of them, to the point they were hiding behind desks and other students in the middle of class. After I finished freaking out, I walked up to the teacher and went straight to the counselor's office, explained myself, the history of bullying, and was given the all clear while they were suspended for several days. Thankfully I had witnesses to back me and they had years long history of being trouble makers. I cant imagine the BS I'd have gone through in today's system.
Funny tho, I never had another issue with anyone after that...
