That's Gilbert. He's said WAY worse since his employ with Aflac. They knew who they were hiring.

I liked the dipshit from ucla who had to bitch about asians talking on their cellphones. I wonder if shes been thrown out of school yet.

He had to go either way, but considering around 75% of AFLAC's sales last year were in Japan there was no way they could keep him even if they wanted to.

I cant pick an option I don't offend easily. The guy is a comedian after all and the company new there was a risk that the voice of the brand may say something scandalous one day.
However, I do not blame them for firing him. Cant have the voice of your product yapping inappropriately.

I think the best example is him making jokes about 9/11 at a celebrity roast a couple weeks after the attack. They should have known who they were hiring, but he should have known who he was working for.

Tasteless, but doesn't deserve to be fired... As already stated, they knew what they were getting into when they hired the guy... And frankly, I thought they were pretty tame compared to what I've seen him put out in the past.

I think his voice and face are more offensive than those jokes.
Many people makes jokes in bad taste. Some will find them funny. Some will find them offensive.
If you have a corporate gig or sponsor, don't expect your tasteless shit to go unnoticed.

Here's the thing...he's only the duck's voice in the U.S. I've heard Japan has a different voice for the duck. So where's the harm?

Me.
Now that I know, it makes sense but I figured they would have hired some out of work actor for the voice rather than a known celebrity.

The Japanese probably wouldn't care that a prominent person on AFLAC's payroll is making light of their nation's disaster as it happens.:skep:

I think they have better shit to worry about.
It is funny how people decide all on their own what to worry about. Do you think Toyota or Honda would be selling fewer cars in America if one of their spokespeople had made jokes about Katrina in the aftermath?
Does anyone else think this is only a news story because they fired him

probably, some chick in the WNBA rambled some stupid shit that god was puishing them for pearl harbor and that barely made the news. I guess dipshit forgot the 2 nuclear bombs we dropped on them.

I think it's a news story because the media is poised to report any "new" developments and have nothing dramatic enough so they came up with this.

Here's a few more...
--Japan called me...They said, maybe those jokes are a hit in the US, but over here they're sinking...
--What do the Japanese have in common with Howard Stern? They're both radio active...
--My Japanese doctor told me that in order to stay healthy, I need 50 million gallons of water a day...
--I was talking to my Japanese real estate agent. I said, is there a school in this area? She said not now, but just wait...
--What does every Japanese person have in their apartment? Flood lights...

hmm potential nuclear meltdown vs what this guy has to say
Sad thing is that is more newsworthy here, people more concerned about who snooki is mad at vs this disaster.

Who even knew he was the duck's voice?
I didn't.
Should he be fired? If the company he works for didn't like what he said then yes. If your a celebrity your getting paid for who you are or can play. Cross the line and you might pay for it.
Yes he is a comedian but the disaster isn't even over yet. He fucked up. Screw him. He is the voice for a duck with a one word gig. I'm sure there will be more then a thousand people looking for work that would sign up for that casting call. Give one of them the work.

Does no one else remember that this was the same guy making jokes about 9/11, not soon after, immediately before he got the Aflack gig?
*EDIT* There are some F-bombs dropped in this vid.

Some people remember.

As I said before, he made jokes about what is happening in Japan while employed by a company that generated 3/4 of their sales last year in Japan. Of course he is free to make whatever jokes he wants, but his employer is just as free to get rid of him for doing so.

That's my point. He's always been this way. They knew that when they hired him. He should have never been hired in the first place.

This.
And, maybe if the jokes were actually funny he wouldn't have been fired...

So in order to save face Aflac guaranteed that everyone knew the Spokesperson they had been paying large sums of money to represent their product for years is an insensitive asshole by making a big news story out of firing him? Great job Aflac!!

The Muslim name joke, if it's the one I think that you're referring to, involved meeting people at a certain building in downtown NYC.
