Cyclegear's choice of $200 AlpineStars isn't impressing me too much....what else would you guys recommend under that price?

First of all, stop shopping at Cycle Gear.

I'm sure Amber Lamps has a whole list of sites to check (newenough.com, motorcyclecloseouts.com,etc.)

I'm not familiar with these but for $143, they are certainly worth considering.

Another option is Used.

A local guy is selling these Diadoras for $80.

Depends on your feet and stuff - check the ADV Flea Market for stuff, there's boots in there all the time.

I got a pair of the AXO Primato's as a back up set and ended up wearing them for an entire weekend. Pretty comfortable, and they were less than $100.

I've wondered about those boots. The price is good. Sounds like they are solid boots from what you're saying.

Is it just me, or are boot prices really dropping. It seems like I get an email every week with boot specials. I've got some A* street boots that I like. Other than the shitty velcro. I don't know what style they are

You talking about the SMX4 or 5's?

I like those.

I got no complaints. Don't get me wrong, they don't compare to a Sidi, but for the price, they shouldn't. I would buy these again over a similarly priced A*.

From what I can tell, pretty spot on. I wear an 8 shoe, and these are an 8 (42 euro).
ETA: Ours are the Primato II's. Don't know the difference.

Hubby and I both like the Alpinestars SMX-4's.

I have some A* similar to these and really like them (but I have the more expensive Gore-Tex version). http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street/boots/waterproof_sport_street_touring_boots/alpinestars/alpha_touring_wp_motorcycle_boots.html Thing I like is I can wear them when I ride for work and they look fine with a pair of black dockers. Most people have no need for that aspect, though. Regardless, I like the ease of the zipper and velcro flap.

I like Oxstar, but they do run a hair wider.
