So there's a cosmonaut up in space, circling the globe, convinced he will never make it back to Earth; he's on the phone with Alexei Kosygin — then a high official of the Soviet Union — who is crying because he, too, thinks the cosmonaut will die.

Apparently the author of the blog responded to some commentary from readers (see link at the bottom of the article (http://www.npr.org/blogs/krulwich/2011/03/22/134735091/questions-questions-questions-more-on-a-cosmonauts-mysterious-death)). Apparently some people brought up some questions as to the validity of the book, being as the narrative relies heavily on one former KGB agent's account. The blog author said he would do some more delving into the subject, so I guess in time we will see.

That said, whether the particular book is true or not, his death was still tragic.

I thought the image of the open casket funeral to pretty powerful.
