You've just got to love drunks. They're always good for an interesting start to the morning. Usually it's on a Monday though.

Last year the city gave the university permission to close down two streets, so that we could extend our pedestrian concourse. It's only a pilot programme, at the moment, so we couldn't put anything permanent up. As a result they put up some heavy planters, which could be moved out of the way in case police or fire had to get through.

So, this morning, this is what greets me just outside of the parking structure. The cleaners tell me that a car came through the planters, then the driver couldn't find his way out again. He just got out of his car and walked away. Whatever he did, he sure got some distance on that few hundred pound planter.

I assume since the idiot left his car they will be arresting and pressing charges of some sort?

One can only hope. Seems to be a fairly common tactic though; hit something and walk away so that you're charged with leaving the scene, instead of impaired operation.
