View Full Version : Burger, Fries & Soda = NO CORN!

I stumbled across a new burger joint today.

Imagine this:

I had a burger with cheese, an order of fries and a soda and did not ingest any HFCS or other corn products or byproducts.

The place has clean, the staff was friendly and the customers were not obese. Basically, it was the polar opposite of your average fast-food-burger-joint.

It's nice to see option like this pop up and I hope they survive and thrive. If there is one in your area, I'd recommend checking out Elevation Burger.

How are their prices compared to average fast food joints?

Friends of ours (ok...wife's friends) have a little chicken place along the same lines. Except they make no promise of any natural queer hippy crap.
They do quite well and we are very happy for them since they just opened up the place last summer.

Small business owners FTW until they are crushed by the mighty ban hammer that is industry...or I just dont feel like shopping there anymore because Stop and Shop\Costcos\BJ's\Thumb and Anus Whistle Inc has it cheaper.

More expensive but you should expect that.

I had the Elevation Burger. It was a double cheese burger and I think it was $6. With fries and a drink it was about $10.

The fries were a BIG order and could serve about 3 people.

Thats actually only about $3 more than the crappy fast food meal I had for lunch today. Not bad at all!

There's one less than a mile from our Austin office that I've eaten at a few times. It's a really good burger I think for *fast food*.

2 thumbs up with your recommendation.

None in Ohio, but PA has a couple locations that I watch for if I'm traveling.

I don't eat fast food burgers so this would be an option for me since it's "good for you".

Thanks for the recommendation!

Ugh, too bad it's up in the Arboretum area. There's nothing I want to see less at lunch than a bunch of rich douche hippies who think they save the world because they exist.

The burger I got there was so-so. :idk:
I like the concept, though, and it's certainly no more expensive than something like Mighty Fine.

Interesting idea, but I'm about as fucking spoiled as one can be when it comes to hamburgers now. One of the best burgers I've ever eaten with two sides that are absolutely amazing for 12.95 at a local place. I'll spend the extra two or three bucks every time.

The beef looks good, but are you sure your soda didn't have HFCS? If it was a diet, it was worst then drinking HFCS.

The starch in the fries aren't good for loosing weight either.

Good hamburgers come from places like Fuddruckers where you can get a buffalo burger on a whole wheat bun that is 1/2 pound of meat with less fat then lean turkey. *licks chops*

In high school/college I used to always get a "Brawny Lad" from Elias Big Boy. Shit had an entire slab of onion on it, along with a Pumperknickel bun. Yeah that's right. Plus I always put A1 sauce on it. Classic.

I'm not claiming it was the healthiest meal I've ever had. Nor was it the least fatty.

But it does go against the whole: "You can't eat ANYTHING tasty without finding corn or HFCS in it!" BS.

Regarding the soda, they had a cooler with Boylan's sodas which are sweetened with cane sugar. They also had a fountain machine with Coke products so it certainly is possible to get your corn fix while eating there.

Hut's Hamburgers FTMFW... probably not "healthy".. but the Bison "Alley-Oop" was delish.

Damned hippies. A burger needs ground beef, bacon, cheese, tomato, cheese, bacon, cheese, ketchup, mustard, bacon, and must be dripping grease through the wrapper. If you don't have heart palpitations, after eating a burger, then it wasn't a good burger.

Big bar burger. Local bar. Wheat n Rye in romulus, near detroit metro airport. Huge, awesome, and just plain great.

Unfortunately if you're into sports, we got nuttin'. There is a nude beach, though, and a Toronto city councillor keeps pushing for legalizing prostitution.

Then you're all set for a trip to the Toronto Island nude beach as long as you wait until July, to make sure they've lost the "winter 20."

My sausage scoping days have decreased dramatically. :dvrofl:

Anyhow, I will probably go this weekend or next. They are open until 4AM on Friday and Saturday nights so maybe if i hit the bars (just 2 blocks away from the sausage stand and 4 blocks from my house) I will go there on the way home to soak up the booze. :rockwoot:

One is open in Coral Springs!!! Friggin SWEET! Honestly, I'm a pretty big health nut, but I'm actually more concerned with the ingredients (organic, no HFCS, etc) than the fat content. I'd be alllll over this place. Definitely gotta go check it out. Thanks for sharing!

I'll definitely go back.

I assume you've been to Charm City? They may not be organic but they sure are tasty!

Haven't been to Charm City, but my co-workers go there quite often. I typically don't eat burgers at all (I could probably count the number of burgers I eat per year on one hand), unless I make them at home because I'm just that picky about what I eat. There's really not a burger place around that serves up something I WOULD eat... except it sounds like this Elevation burger joint might do just that. On the odd occasion that I DO want a burger, now I have a new place to check out. :rockwoot:

made it to elevation on saturday. pretty good stuff!
for health nut place, i was surprised there was no wheat option for buns.

the patty was very tender and juicy, not lean and flavorless as i was expecting.

I dont recommend the "spicy balsamic" dressing for the side salad.
