So my M.I.L. has Fibromyalgia and F.I.L. has had cancer, and well, he's 72 and he kinda just HURTS all over. (yeah they had my wife late in life)
They both just kinda HURT all the time.
And I see this retired colonel on the news the other night campaigning the halls of the state senate trying to get legal MJ passed for NC. He's saying that ANY time you see him he is under the influence, and has to be to maintain sanity. He's got chronic pain and that's his ONLY relief.
So at lunch Sunday I asked them if they'd ever considered weed. They looked at each other and their eyes got as big as saucers because they had actually spoken to each other then night before ABOUT trying it. Buy they didn’t' want to smoke it. So they asked if there was another way.
I said that I’d made brownies years ago, and got high as a kite…..and they like the idea. A LOT.
My question is; before I go snooping on the net and raise a red flag with our I.T. people…. What are some options here? Are brownies the best way (for THEM)? My F.I.L. mentioned cookies..but I’d never heard of doing THAT…..but hell, why NOT?
California has companies that do nothing but put pot in different recipes. You could look them up.

You could look them up.
Thanks...good start for now though...kinda wanted to keep it on the forum level for right now. Our little rinky dink I.T. service just looks at websites searched/logged and not the content.
I dont see why IT would care you were looking at legal Medical Marijuana uses. These companies are 100% legal in California.

Likely cover story Troy. You should surf for pot on your own time. LOL

guess that's one way to deal with inlaws, just get 'em high and watch them laugh themselves silly.

Troy, my dad was prescribed a medication that had marijuana/THC in it for his chemo nausea and pain management. I'm not sure if that's an option... and I don't know how it compares to "natural" MJ in terms of effects/side effects. I know my dad didn't really care for the loopy feeling of it.. but he had never done pot even as the crazy teen he may have been in the 40's. So, YMMV...

Wouldn't be an issue in an architects office. Engineers are under bigger thumbs

Actually no :lol I have a flip-phone I use to talk on :idk:
I was actually just asking for some personal experience/opinion of people I respect, instead of just googling it.
My father went through a nasty spell with cancer, the chemo ducked him up pretty bad. The feel good pills the docs gave him were crap. Sampled some green smoke and all was good

He stay with it? Or was it just to get past the initial wave of misery that follows treatment?

Look up vaporizers. Supposedly gives you all of the high with none of the smoke.

Yes but....
You still have to "smoke" them.
I'd do the brownie / cookie route.

THC is fat soluble. The trick, (or so I'm told by reliable sources...) is to "dissolve" the weed in butter.
Figure out how much butter is in the NORML recipe, (see what I did there?) and saute the weed over low heat for a half hour or so. Then strain the green mess through a strainer, and bake your brownies, cookies, whatever, with the end product.
DO NOT OVER BAKE. That will kill the buzz. If anything, under bake slightly.
Tell your Mother in law, Jesus says High.

You're welcome.
By the way, since you're a dope N00B, I should have mentioned that you need to chop the weed up into tiny pieces first, to maximize the surface area, (don't just toss a big bud into a sauce pan.)

A couple of my buddies used to do this... generally with dirt weed and scraps from their harvests... If doing any sort of quantity, use a food processor to break it up... seeds and all. Werks like a champ.

Use a cheap coffee bean grinder for the weed. Then use the method AMJ posted.

Here's how I do it:
Take your Cannabis product, be it shake or buds, and grind it up with a food processor. How much you use depends on the quality of the product and how potent you want the butter to be. It is possible to have an extended psychedelic trip with enough potency, and that's definitely not what you want. You want to use an Indica strain for this, not a Sativa.
Take the processed product and put it in a crock pot, drop two lbs of butter in there and fill the crock pot up with water. Cook on high for one hour and low for two hours. find this to be more effective in extracting all the good stuff rather than AMJ's recommended 30 minutes.
Using cheesecloth strain the butter/water/cannabis mixture into a large container that will fit in your fridge. You may need to strain it a couple of times to get all the plant material out...you just want straight liquid.
Chill in the fridge overnight. The butter will solidify and float to the top. Put it in a container and keep it in the fridge. Use it for whatever you would normally use butter for from deserts to main courses, lollipops, etc. etc.
Have them go slowly at first. Half a cookie perhaps. It's going to take about an hour before they feel any pain relieving effects, so getting impatient and eating too much can give a bad experience...though of course it would not be possible to overdose and die on.
Good luck!
**PS** Keep in mind, it is possible to get far, far higher on edibles than by smoking cannabis, and the effects last much much longer. Even experienced tokers can eat enough to go on a 48 hour trip. For instant pain relief smoking it is still the way to go.

Ok, I'll buy the crock pot method for keeping the temp low, but what's with the water?

It helps keep the temps from getting too hot and separates out some of the undesirables from the plant material. Most importantly it helps make sure you get all that butter released from the plant material when you strain it. You really want to rinse that plant material and squeeze all the liquid out of it...otherwise you're throwing away good butter.
Its an expensive medication, you don't wanna waste it.

How'd that go by the way? Seems to me the MMJ market might be on the decline due to Fed. Gov. policies. I know the Montana Gov. is about to completely repeal their MMJ law and dispensaries in CA and CO are still getting raided by the DEA.

I learned a ton about the laws, regulations and such. But it isn't looking like a real good business decision about now: about $250K in startup costs (potential business partner bailed, so it's on me 100%). And that doesn't even guarantee being able to open a dispensory.

Well, that's interesting, because they just greenlighted it here in NJ.
Seems that Governor Fat Fuck (after dragging his feet for over a year) finally managed to put enough of his political cronies in charge to make it "viable" (try not to wretch as you read):

With all those charming politically connected Republicans making all the money, I really don't suspect we'll see any DEA raids here in NJ.
I also don't suspect I'll ever see any MMJ in my lifetime. Looks like you'll need to be on your death bed to get any, and even then it'll be crap.

I did, and I just kept eating the brownies. Then I got higher and hungrier so I ate more brownies, and got higher and hungrier. Its a pretty viscous cycle.

Hey Troy, I should also mention, some people do not have the enzyme to break down THC in their stomach. They could eat pot brownies all day and not feel anything besides a full stomach. If that turns out to be the case it'll be time for you to go water bong shopping....or if they're really anti smoke look into vaporizers with them.
