On a more serious note - if they do build it, I'd kill to take a photo from the top. Who needs a fisheye lens when you are high enough for the curvature of the earth to make itself plainly apparent? :D

I have no idea, but I imagine destruction of the pendulum from a plane impact would create an insane collapse. Could you imagine a mile of building tipping over onto the rest of the city. It would be ridiculous.
