Schrodinger's E-mail is my personal fave. I had to forward that to our J6 guy... I know he'll get a chuckle out of it.

Damn, might as well consider that a daily checklist. When I first started working here, I was the Grim Reaper. If I walked into your office, it was likely to collect your PC. You were on your way out.

The Hypochondriac! I'm not in IT, but we used to do this to Air Traffic Controllers when they complained about the radar picture. We knew the legitimate problems and the non-legitimate problems. I've gone into the ATC "cave," looked at the screen and told them "I'll head out to the radar and fix it." I'd go grab a bite to eat, or watch some tv, then call from inside the radar van and say, "how's it look now?" Response was always, "It looks great, thanks!!"

Pretty much the same applies to computer screens. There are always a few people who think that their LCD display is "fuzzy" so I'll putz around with the settings for a few minutes, put them back to defaults, and aks them how it looks. Nine times out of 10 they say it's a big improvement.
