So Ive been trying to sell my Wrangler on Autotrader since February and its a real pain in the ass. Ive had a bunch of calls about it but only one person has come to see it so far, mostly because I keep forgetting or putting off calling people back.
Is there a service out there that will sell your car for you, maybe for a percentage, and does anyone have experience with it?

There are tons of car lots in any city who will sell on consignment. Just gotta work out the commission or flat rate.
And believe it or not, but Craigslist is a better quality audience than AutoTrader.

You mean a BIGGER audience, not better.
Yes, find some local car lots and ask about consignment.

I take it your car was NOT listed on Craigslist.
When I list my vehicles there, I get maybe 1 REAL person vs about 10 services looking to sell my vehicles for me. Which is funny because they always start off with "we HAVE someone who wants to buy your vehicle, we just need all the info on it so we can sell it to them".
Meaning they will find someone to buy your car and they will take their cut. You just need to make sure you can keep the math in your favor when they start throwing numbers around, because they will get what they want percentage wise without caring what you end up with. Kinda like a REAL car salesperson.

Hey, Jeeps are one vehicle that hold on to value like crazy.
I'd say go CL route too, just be prepared for all the spam, and dont tell ppl where you live unless they are seriously interested or meet them somewhere public. But uh, typically if you're trying to sell something it works ALOT better if you contact them back. If you aren't then in essence YOU are the spammer. Don't list it if you aren't prepared to put forth the effort to actually sell it.

Yeah I read it. I still think it's silly. If you dont feel like calling ppl back, why bother to list it. Not to mention it's not like Jeeps are hard to sell.
Honestly, why pay someone a portion of your profits when you can easily do it yourself. If it's that hard, take it to a dealer and sell it to them. Like the Carmax thing mentioned or a used car dealer. That way they steal from you but you don't have to deal with it after dropping it off.

In my experience CarMax makes better offers than the average dealership

Starting price was $8200 but sold it for $7500.

Your completely fucking crazy, im convinced.
Autotrader is for selling vehicles. Dealers use it. Individuals use it. Its a service that directly deals with a single entity, vehicles. Theres nothing redneck about it.
Craigslist is the main place where rednecks go to sell their unwanted, dirty, run down shit to other rednecks.

I would never go to Craiglist to look for a late model car. Most of those people selling on there don't seem to take care of their cars, hence using a free site to do so. The people on autotrader seem to have a better attachment to their vehicles.
Besides you get sick of looking for a car on craigslist and finding chevy, olds, honda, subaru, accord, blue, black etcetcetc in every post...It gets fucking old.

Uh no they don't. They sell it between 500 over wholesale to 500 under wholesale. I've had much much better luck selling to dealers than CarMax. Here are examples of cars I've sold to dealers.
2008 Cadillac STS - Carmax - 17,000 vs. 24,600 at a dealer.
2008 Chevy Aveo - Carmax 7,000 vs. 9,500 at a dealer.
2002 Acura TL - Carmax 7,000 vs. 9500 at a dealer.
CarMax personnal are basically high-schoolers who know little about what they sell. And then when they need to fix anything body related, they are spraying it in the back with people who don't know how to do a quality job. Top this off by these guys ONLY looking at the fucking insurance data (Carfax) saying that the "frame was straightened", but when asked to point out where, cannot. I'm not impressed.
You can get a dealer to give you much better deals than Carmax..you just have to tell them what you want up front, then haggle to get it (this might take a few hours to do).

Dude, if someone is a true redneck, they wouldn't even know Craigslist exists (or they only found out about it just recently).
When Craigslist first came out, only hipsters used it. Flash forward a few years, and now you're saying it's been magically transformed into a redneck site? That doesn't make sense.
AutoTrader used to be a paper tabloid sitting in fucking gas stations for the last 50-60 years probably. That's how redneck it was. Now they have a website of course, but it's slow and the search function sucks IMO.

Craigslist SUCKS for finding vehicles, period. There is absolutely no search criteria...
Craigslist is a place you go to buy a used treadmill or shit like that.

Craigslist search function may bring in a lot of unwanted shit, but that is why you limit it to "autos" and sort in descending order of price. And at least it's not chock full of ads and other shit that slows down your computer.

One day on M/C trader and it sold. I'm convinced.

Eh, sold 3 bikes on CL and didn't have any issues. And I fail to see why lowballers wouldn't exist on any other site. Just ignore them.
