I'm on both sides of the fence with this issue...

A good friend of mine when I was a kid was adopted... he was black, the rest of his family was white, so it wasn't anything hidden... Ultimately, he was pretty fucked up about it all... never knowing his real parents, feeling like a charity case, etc... His parents were good people, but he was fucked up anyway... Ended up big into drugs, murdering a couple people, and in prison for the rest of his life a few weeks shy of his 18th birthday.

Not saying that something like this game would push someone over the edge or permenantly effect them in any way, but I can understand the concern from the parents... You put in a video game that should be good for a 10 year old kid and now all of a sudden it's telling your kid that they are worthless because they don't have real parents. That's sorta fucked up...

I agree that people need to have thicker skin, but we are still talking about a 10 year old kid here... Not saying she should be sheltered from everything that's wrong in the world, but I think the dad did have a point. To me, it would be similar to a race or religion joke in a video game meant for 10 year olds...

I'd call it a great parenting opportunity, because you can sure as hell bet that kids at school are going to be a lot more cruel, and about all kinds of things.
