Looking for a new bike again. I hate, hate, hate the V-Star.

Between the Yamaha FZ8, Aprilia Shiver and the Aprilia Dorsoduro. Anyone ridden one of these? I'm leaing toward the Shiver... It's a v-twin, it's Italian and it's nekid!! Give me a reason to buy something else.

They make a faired version of the FZ8 in the US? Not really interested in a faired bike.

No Tuono. I want a light bike. :skep:

The specs I've seen have the Tuono V4 weighing in lighter than the Shiver.

air cooled

What's wrong with air-cooled?

Get the 796 Duc and power-wise it's damn close, get the 1100 and it'll have much more power.

That could be an option.

I wouldn't get a hypermotard 800 or 1100 model as your only bike unless you plan to use it for short rides only.

Shiver would be a much more all around bike.

I don't have any input for you, but I'm surprised it took this long to decide to get rid of the v-star. I knew I hated them after a 10 minute test ride. Good luck in your search.

I vote Dorsoduro 750 because I never see them.

I test rode one and thought it was awesome. Just out of my price range at the time.

There's lots of pros and cons between this and the Hyper 796. Dorso comes 1200 also to compete with the 1100 Hyper, BUT I would choose the bigger Hyper due to weight/performance over it. I don't care so much for the ABS and other touring features Aprilia went with instead of dropping weight and upping the power.

Great Review of the 8... actually one of the better reviewers I have ever seen. Kevin Duke can suck it.

I really like the Shiver more than the 8 though. :idk:

796 is out, I want don't want air cooled. Shiver is looking like the bike. My local dealer has new leftover 09 Dorso and Shiver for $7900 each.

Just curious on your reasons for not going air cooled?

Watercooled bikes have more power. lb for lb.

I love cruisers and I would hate the v-star as well. There is a reason why they are cheaper. Cause they are cheaper!

Cant wait to see what you come up with.

The bike was free so I cant really complain. It'll take a little chuck out of the price of a new bike whenI trade it in.

There's a recent comparison in cycle world or something - FZ8 doesn't have adjustable forks.

The Street Triple does though. ;)

What about the BMW F800R or whatever that thing is... It looks pretty cool.

Fuck that.

You pretty much have to step up to a Tuono or Streetfighter to get that. Or get an SV an do the GSXR fork swap. I even think the Kawi Z1000 can swap forks with the ZX1000 with a little work. Either way your need to caugh up some extra cash for that.
