Just got back from checking up on the shop. My boss got a call from the security people and they said the motion detector went off. I grabbed my pistol and my boss picked me up. I went in first clearing each room until I got to the back and saw the entry point and we backed out and got the police to come over.

The building is cinder blocks except the rear. Its sheet metal and frame. They just grabbed the end of a sheet and ripped it open then busted out the sheetrock/wall paneling. Luckily we had a bunch of stuff stacked against the wall and a small but heavy table. They ended up knocking over everything leaning against the table and it set off the alarm. We figure its the same people that broke into our trailer last time. They know when are days off are.

I voted for razor wire but the boss is going to call up an electrician to hang up more security lights. Well I'm beat so good night.

Well aren't you Joe policeman. redflip

What kind of shop is this?

Fucking scum.

Replace everything, but put cinder block just inside of the drywall. That way, when they try to bust through the drywall, they find cinder block instead of air.

Alternatively, boobie trap the place with outward-facing charges.

Clearing the building yourself isn't all that smart.

He needs to tell the electrician to hook up a switched hot to the paneling. Nothing will stop a thief like a good shock.

agree with this. if it becomes a liability tell them you installed hot wires to keep the cattle in the building. LOL

Clearing the building yourself isn't all that smart.This. Hell, I've been trained to do it and I still won't. If someone comes into my house, I'll hole up in one room and wait for them to come to me. They can take all the shit they want. But, come into my room and they're going down.

You give them a huge advantage if you go looking for them.

Plus if you go hunting for 'em and give 'em some high velocity lead poisoning the "self defense"'thing goes out the window...

Not necessarily. Depends on the state. In Oklahoma, our law is a *Stand your ground* law. That means I do not have a duty to retreat under threat if I am somewhere I am allowed to be, i.e. home. Obviously, that's not a license to go 007 on somebody. There still needs to be a reasonable belief of imminent death or bodily harm.

The way I see it, if someone barges their way into my house that I don't know, well, that's the reasonable belief I need and I WILL kill that person. If it comes down to me, in my home, or someone who wants to rob, injure, or kill me, it will be them.

That's not to say I want to shoot someone. I don't, ever. If it's going to be me or them though, it won't be me.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Why didn't the security people call the police THEN the owner? Seems like an odd setup.

Not in Texas.

Is there a quart of something that I can buy that'll get hard as a rock. I was just going to screw down the panel and put something over the ripped part. Needs to be really hard when it drys. I'll cut some 2x4's and screw them in the framing where they busted through. They'll have to find another place to go through next time.

Neither is riding a motorcycle on public roads...

Yet, you still ride a motorcycle.

I'm with marko and temple, that just seems like a setup for a bad situation, let the police do it. Also, why not go around the perimeter of the building first, this would have shown you their point of entry as well as given clues as to if they are still there. See the wall ripped off the building, thats how they got in, see an unfamiliar truck, that means they are still here take up a defensive position behind their car and let out some tire air, wait for police.

He was probably pointing out choice or avoidance. You can avoid getting on a bike as avoiding going in.

Risk vs. reward. Riding a bike is fun. Clearing a building is not. I'll let the cops go in there and get shot up. Insurance will replace my stuff. It's just stuff. I'm not taking a bullet for a television.

Or, better yet... for your boss' television

I would've grabbed my AR or a shotgun over the pistol... just me. But prob still done it. Like said before, I've been trained to do it... and it's an adrenaline rush.

It's a semi tight building so I went with the pistol instead. Also didnt want to risk a rifle round going through a wall in a direction I didn't want it to go.

Booby traps can be cool, but are illegal...

My 'rents owned a laundry mat... people would stand on the sink in the bathroom, get up into the drop tile ceiling and go into the back room. Nothing worth anything was back there, but they always trashed the place. My dad put carpet tack strips on the top of the wall... Went in one night and there was blood EVERYWHERE... fool got up on the sink and jumped to grab the top of the wall - OUCH. Man, I would have LOVED to have been there...

So would you boss have paid workmans comp if you got stabbed by the meth head that was trying to rob you?

Nothing like being in a poor country with cinderblock fences and broken glass cemented on top.

Only if I was doing something related to work. Thats why I grabbed a hammer in the other hand and branged it on stuff to simulate work.
