I was thinking that I REALLY would have liked to see something like that on Friday when two cycletards were riding straight towards me, in the middle of the lane, while they were going the wrong way down a one way street.

It's only a vehicle when they want it to be. Other times, they treat it like a toy to justify doing whatever they want. Blowing red lights, jumping curbs, etc.

Funny vid and it brings up valid points, but idiots like below make me want to side with the officer.
Just a few weeks ago my father and I ran into a pack of the bastards taking up the entire lane of a 45 mph road. We were stuck behind them for at least 15 minutes. They had a sidewalk right next to them for a good portion of the time we were stuck behind them. It was populated by the occasional pedestrian, but there was still enough room for them to pass by no problem.. it was a decent sized side walk. If they felt they had to travel on the road the very least they could have done was double up or single file. I'm honestly surprised there was no accident when people were passing them because the roads were very busy since it was rush hour.

...and somewhere a truck driver is not making a video about the ticket he just recieved for parking in a bike lane. Somewhere, an city worker is wondering what the hell happened to the barricades he just put up over the broken pavement (in the bike lane) that he was about to start fixing. He is also not about to make a video of it all.
There is a campaign against bicyclist because for the most part they ignore all laws and are an easy opportunity to generate revenue.
The guy got a ticket. We do not know the context of the situation.
Ride in a bicycle lane, if a usable one is available. Where there is none, the bicyclist must ride near the right curb or edge of the road, or on a usable right shoulder of the road, to avoid undue interference with other traffic. The rule of staying to the right does not apply when a bicyclist or in-line skater is preparing for a left turn or must move left to avoid hazards.
If this guy was in the middle of traffic or just riding like an asshole, then the officer is going to go with something that make sense. Sometimes its hard to define "riding like an asshole" so they will go with something easy like "Not riding in marked cycle lane or something."
As for this guy complaining about everyone else NOT getting a ticket...thats weak ass nonsense.
That guy isn't getting a ticket from THIS officer because THIS officer is busy writing YOU a ticket. BTW how do you know that other guy you pointed out doesn't get a ticket every week?
You dont know....
Asshole.

Yup; pedestrian, when vehicles are restricted and a vehicle, when pedestrians are restricted. I almost centre-punch some courier wannabe, on the main streets in downtown Toronto during rush hour, at least once a week while he's (always a he) breaking some traffic law.

Dunno about SC, but most places it's illegal to ride on the sidewalk.
Of course, double or single file is usually the law, too.

So, those of you railing against bicycles breaking the law, do you also rail against motorcycles passing on a double yellow line?
(For what it's worth, I think both are stupid.)

In Toronto, it's illegal to ride on the sidewalk if your bike's wheels are above a certain size (16", I believe). This, of course, does nothing to stop idiots on stunt bikes or ebikes from riding there.
In the Province of Ontario, the centre line isn't a regulatory device. It doesn't matter what colour it is or if it's a single, or double line. There are many places where municipalities try to use a solid or double solid line, to stop passing, where you can see for a Kilometre or more in either direction and where there are no intersections/driveways.

In Toronto, a couple of years back, police were using the section of our Highway Traffic Act that bans flashing lights that would look like an emergency vehicle, to charge people for flashing their lights at oncoming traffic, warning of a speed trap.

I'd wager that if your average motorist is sitting a red light, and a bicycle rides up beside them and runs the light (not hindering anyone), it'll evoke much the same anger as a motorcycle passing on a double yellow and busting the speed limit.
Both are cases of a vehicle presuming that some traffic law doesn't apply to them, and both make the rest of us who do follow those laws look bad.

Nope, I'm not gonna say that (though re-reading it, I guess it came off that way). I've done it a few times, but there has to be a damn good reason. I'm a long way from the "fuck the double yellow" end of the spectrum.
My point is that ignoring the laws of the road is going to piss other people off, whether you're on a bicycle or a motorcycle, and whether you're impeding them or not. Personally, I'm tired of dealing with the repercussions when I'm just riding along, minding my own business, obeying all the traffic laws.

You want to know my biggest problem with cyclists, is those who insist on riding 2 or 3 side by side, instead of in a line or staggered. So they take up the whole lane and prevent cars from passing them. Honestly I think make of these clowns are just trying to make some kind of political point or ego demonstration.
