Anyone have any experience with them? I can't do a window unit because the neighborhood HOA would shit a brick but I need to be able to cool down one room of the house.
There seems to be quite a few out there, so I thought I'd see if anyone has used one and can recommend one/certain features/what to look for, etc.

Anything that claims it needs no venting to the outside is bullshit.
Other than that, those things are pretty much just an A/C unit in a box with wheels.
Calculate your BTU, and realize that of all designs, this is probably the least efficient.

How so? I have a 2200 sq ft house in Texas. To get the smallest room in the house on the second floor dow to 65-70 degrees it'd probably take an hour after turning the entire a/c system down to 65 before the room would be at the correct temperature then I'd have to maintain it at that temp for a few hours at a time. I can't even imagine what my electric bill would be.
Do you have suggestions on something else?

Move from Texas. I understand it's hot there.

Don't really know what that means, but based on the calculator I found this one and it's not too pricey:

My sister has one that sits in the room, and has a duct that goes to the window. Seems to do a decent job, but that is all I know...

Any brand with a catchy intentional misspelling automatically loses 50% credibility in my book. redflip
We bought our 1-story house instead of the 2-story next door because of the problems cooling the upper rooms. Summer sucks ass down here. :td:

Don't I know it. I am trying to make chocolate and the ideal temperature is 65-70.
I did find this one:

I didn't watch the video but I remember now a few places in MO having those.

Wow guys, how bout you actually help her with the questions instead of pelting her with stupid comments and questions?!
Heather, I used to have to use these and similar when I was in property management, and we'd borrow them from the office on occasion to use in houses or tents for special events...

You can find smaller and cheaper units, this is just an idea. You want something with a large drain pan, so you can leave it a few hours without worrying about it flooding over and ruining the floor, etc. And you do want to have it near a window or vent, tho you can get a longer dryer hose, etc to get it vented. You def want wheels too for easier relocation.

 Um...what?
Because I need ONE 140 sq ft room cooled to 65-70 degrees for a few hours at a time. I keep my house around 78 degrees during the summer. I am not going to crank my a/c to cool all 2200 sq ft to that temp for one room. That's as dumb as can be. Even if I insulated better, it's still Texas, it's still a sunny room on the second floor and it would still need to be cooled to 65-70.

Yeah, those are nice and I know they work. The tea room I worked at in MO was in a 100 year old house so the owner had those installed.
I just don't want to install anything permanent. I want to be able to move it.

I've got a friend in the food business in town. If you're interested in eventually just renting out some commercial kitchen space, I can do some digging. Not sure how big this project of yours is.

I'm not sure how big it is either just yet.
I will keep that in mind if it gets too big for that room, thank you.

That copper grid would take a millennium to solder together. and that would only be worth while if you took a fishtank pump and pushed the water back up into the cooler.

I bought a stand up A/C unit to cool off a 10/10 room, worked well and was quiet. You NEED to vent it to the outside though, so I would suggest putting a piece of wook that fits into the window opening, then cutting out a circular hole to put the duct though.

I bought this unit for 356 bucks. Still runs like a champ..no issues.
