Ever hear of this? Found it on the TL forum...

Here is some over zealous findings on this mod. Gold is used because it is a better radiant barrier.
Guy used some heat shield foil shit for water heaters on his:
Got bored and wanted to try something. Screw the $160 "Miracle Mod", This ran me about $6!:laugh
I'm about half way through.

Me thinks the claims on that site are a bit out there, but hell for $6 for the DIY'er, it might be fun to try...

I guess it can't hurt (at least he didn't put it on the inside), but how much would a hot airbox even change the intake air temp? Seems like a lot of air is moving pretty fast through that thing.

This has been around the Busa Forums for a while yet to see any note any real change at aDyno with it

I can maybe see it having a small impact on air temp at idle but once moving, not so much...

Well at least it would look cool.

Too bad it's hidden under the gas tank

You would just need it on the bottom half. You should your bike taken away for paying $150 for tin foil and your legs broken for paying $300 for gold colored tin foil.
that is a $1,000,000 dollar idea right there. Sell performance airbox foil kits that help improve gas mileage and increase hoarsepower.

I would think putting it on the bottom of the fuel cell/tank itself would have a better result as cool fuel is just as important as cool air. Only with a Buell I aint wrapping my frame in that shit.
On the other hand the cold air systems cars run are not anywhere as efficient as a motorcycles pressurized ram air ducts so I doubt there is any benefit to wrapping the airbox.

Bottom of the tank or frame scream ceramic powdercoat. I think you can get it in black...might even be able to do the plastic airbox. But if you're gonna go that far why not yank the head for a p&p and get the pistons chambers and valves coated as well.
So in real world numbers what are we talking about as far as real world performance gains? 1/64th of a hp? Is that worth un bolting the gas tank and air box?
better off spending the money on something useful like a set of steel braided brake lines or a track day

From what I've read, a 10ยบ drop increases power by about 1%... For a $6 mod, that'd be a significant gain.

Or just blow for a ZX10 and be done with it!:boobs:
