Bam's Mom: 'Jackass' Star Ryan Dunn Is Dead
52 minutes ago by TMZ Staff
"Jackass" star Ryan Dunn died in a car crash in Pennsylvania early this morning ... TMZ has confirmed with Bam Margera's mother.
34-year-old Dunn appeared in all of the "Jackass" movies -- famously shoving a toy car into his rectum in the first flick back in 2002.
Dunn and an unidentified person both died in the crash which happened around 3 a.m. at Route 322 and New Street in West Goshen Township. It's unclear who was driving the car.
We're told the car caught fire in the crash -- and hours later, a tow truck was called to the scene to remove the charred wreckage.
Just hours before his death, Dunn posted a photo on Twitter showing himself drinking with friends.
speed + alcohol most likely. Although it could possibily be the work of an automatic transmission.

if he burnt himself to a crisp thye may have a hard time getting any sort of tox screen done to determine if alcohol was a factor.

A guy that was known for taking things to excess was seen to be drinking alcohol before crashing a very fast car at what police believe may have been a high rate of speed. I don't think its a stretch or unfair to assume drunk driving was a factor.

Ryan Dunn -- Beer and Shots Before Crash
6/20/2011 10:50 AM PDT by TMZ Staff
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Jackass" star Ryan Dunn spent four hours in a Philadelphia-area bar before he got behind the wheel of his Porsche 911 this morning ... drinking at least 3 beers and 3 shots ... TMZ has learned.
Dunn arrived to a bar called Barnaby's of America in West Chester, PA around 10:30 PM ... to hang out with a small group of male friends.
One of the friends tells TMZ ... Dunn had 3 Miller Lites and 3 "girly shots" between 10:30 PM and 2:10 AM -- nearly a 4 hour span -- but he was "not too drunk to drive."
But according to another person who was inside the bar that night, Dunn was "wasted" -- and "had a lot to drink."
As TMZ previously reported, Dunn crashed his Porsche soon after -- killing himself and an unidentified passenger. Cops believe speed may have been a factor.

Thats a bit more like front page news. But thats the great thing about the internet. They can put up stories about anything right when they happen.
As far as this story goes I thought it sucked when I read the thread title. It might have got a Twitter or Facebook message about it early on. But once I read that he was drinking it changes things. I haven't heard for sure that he was the one driving, one story said they don't know, but even if it was someone driving that was there drinking with him it would be the same.
Now it would be sad if it was a sober DD that got carried away in the car.
Its just stupid. If you can afford that car you can afford a cab home or a room in a hotel down the street for the night.

6 drinks in 4 hours? Give me a fucking break people. Like 6 drinks got a man who was known for excessive partying for years, drunk. 6 drinks in 2 hours doesn't even get me buzzed. Doesnt help that im nearly twice the size of Ryan. But still, this was over 4 hours. I totally believe he was excessively speeding, and he lost control. Easy mistake... anybody can lose control of a car at those speeds. Trip and everybody else condemning him for drinking and driving, cant say a damn thing unless you have never had any alcohol in your system while driving any motor vehicle, especially a motorcycle. Especially when there is no tox report to confirm his BAC. Get a tox report to incriminate the man as drunk and I'll STFU.

Alcohol can affect people differently. He could also have been sick or tired. Anything that slows your reaction time and or decision time can be really bad at high speeds.
Most say they are fine and are not. Why even take the chance? Is it that hard for one person not to drink that night and be the DD? Is it that expensive for a cab that people can't take one rather then drive? Clipping one curb can pay for a long ass cab ride or s short limo ride alone.
And a friend said he had 3 beer and 3 shots. Someone else said he was wasted. He didn't look all that great in the picture that he posted but the story a picture tells can be much different a second before or after.
And I have never drove a car, truck or van, nor have I rode a motorcycle, peddle bike or even a tricycle while even a drop of alcohol in my system.
James

I have never EVER been buzzed or even close to it and driven.. I won't drive or get in a car with a person that has had 1 drink within several hours. I will fight someone if I am drunk (then runaway) and they try to get me in the car with someone that has been drinking. I have actually done that.
I don't give a shit what you say about he was an excessive party person and could handle that. That is more than the legal limit I guarantee it. 1 beer requires at least an hour.
It's all fun and games til you have a family member killed by some fucking dumbass who says they "can handle their liquor" and can drive with a drink or two.

Also X number of drinks in 4 hours doesn't say much. Did he drink all of them when he first got there and left 4 hours later? Did he have the shots 30 minutes before leaving?
Now if he was a passenger in his own car and the other guy was a sober DD then it changes everything.

But you have still had alcohol in your system which could have affected your perception/judgement and reaction. Unless you have been 100% sober 100% of the time you have turned a key. Like flexin said alcohol affects people in many ways, 1 drink or 21. And I completely understand it is a two way street when using that statement. I have had family members and friends die in crashes, bikes and cars. Some from alcohol and some from being a fucking dumbass. I had an uncle roll his supercharged Roadrunner with 900 horsepower, killing him, his friend. He was 100% sober. They all die the same way. I dont have a problem with you or your opinion Trip, all I'm saying is you can't jump to conclusion. As far as the "reports" saying he had 3, 6, 10, enough to be smashed drunk... say it all RIGHT there. Sensational media, conflicting reports, fucking TMZ spearheading the reports. Noone even knows if he was driving man...
Edit, check that last bit. lol

Then again, if he had his jawbone removed, maybe he should take that as a sign, that it's time to shut the fuck up.

By far the best thing about that movie is Brandon's character. And the fact that he uses a horrible Van Damme accent.
"I give you....... THE REVERSE MICROWAVE!"
The one liners in that movie were awesome....
"Yeah. Before I met Hellboy. You know what your problem is? You always want shit to stay the same, okay? I need to get out there. I wanna play the field... of dicks.
Ryan: Ewww...."
"Did she just say "teenagers were meant to fuck"? "
"Ohh, wow, not so good. I lost my schedule at the beginning of the semester, and couldn't find my classes for like a month and a half. I end up getting three D's and an F, I mean, it's not that bad considering I passed."
"I will tell you everything, I'll let you know. You'll be so much smarter. Girls are like... a lake, you know? Like, you can jump right in, get in there, and then you're all used to it and everything's great. But come winter time
[snaps fingers], that shit's fuckin' frozen. Then you're fucked. That's why I know the difference: I always pull out of it.
Did you take acid???
.... Yeah....."
"Valo: Alright dude, seriously just relax okay? Look at that girl over there. She's reading a book alone. If that's not an invitation, I don't know what is.
Ryan: What are you talking about, Valo? It's a coffee shop. People like that come here to get away from people like us.
Valo: She is looking for ass, I can see it."
"Valo: You've got a fucking rhinoceros on your chest! What the hell did you do?
Ryan: I just got a tattoo...
Valo: It looks ri-Goddamn-diculous!"
"Valo: I popped the trunk for you!

Police: Dunn was driving 130 mph when he crashed

WEST GOSHEN — West Goshen Police Chief Michael Carroll said Tuesday afternoon that "Jackass" daredevil Ryan Dunn was traveling roughly 130 mph when his Porsche crashed early morning on the Route 322 bypass.
Carroll said an accident reconstruction team recently determined the high rate of speed the vehicle was traveling before it collided with a guardrail, landed in the woods and burst into flames about 2:40 a.m. Monday near Pottstown Pike.
"I've never seen a car destroyed in an automobile accident the way this car was even before it caught on fire," Carroll said. "The automobile actually came apart. It was unbelievable and I've been on a lot of fatal accident scenes. This is by far the worse I've ever seen."
Click here to read columns written by Ryan Dunn including one where he talks about driving fast.
Carroll also confirmed that alcohol may be related to the fiery crash that took the life of the 34-year-old Dunn, and his passenger, 30-year-old Zachary Daniel Hartwell, both of West Chester. An investigation revealed Dunn was at a bar-restaurant not long before the crash, Carroll said.
"We know that within an hour prior to the accident (Dunn) was at Barnaby's in West Chester," he said.
Toxicology results are expected Wednesday or Thursday, Carroll said.
About two hours before the crash, a photo of Dunn and two other men apparently drinking was posted to Dunn’s Twitter account. The image has since been removed from Twitter. Carroll said he is aware of the photo.
The Chester County Coroner's Office said Tuesday the cause of death for both men is blunt force trauma and thermal trauma.
Mourners were placing flowers at the scene of the crash Tuesday.

Ryan Dunn, Zach Hartwell Die 100 Yards From Home
They were almost home.
The car crash that killed “Jackass” star Ryan Dunn and his passenger Zachary Hartwell happened only yards away from Hartwell’s house.
The 34-year-old Dunn and 30-year-old Hartwell, were killed early Monday. Police say Dunn's Porsche might have been traveling as fast as 100 mph when it crashed 2:38 a.m. near the Pottstown exit on Route 322.
Hartwell’s house is less than 100 yards from the exit ramp that Dunn was presumably trying to turn onto before he lost control of the vehicle.
Friends and acquaintances saw Dunn and Hartwell at Barnaby’s bar in West Chester Sunday night and into Monday morning, before the two left in Dunn’s car.

Margera's Mom Talks About the... More Multimedia While there’s been some speculation that Dunn may have been driving drunk, the loudest voice being film critic Roger Ebert, a toxicology report will not be available for weeks, according to the Chester County Coroner’s Office.
The official cause of death is “blunt and thermal trauma due to a motor vehicle accident.”
Dunn, who appeared on MTV shows “Jackass” and “Viva La Bam” and the three “Jackass” big-screen adaptations, was recently engaged to be married, Bam Margera’s father Phil Margera told NBC Philadelphia.
Hartwell served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was recently married, according to Phil Margera. Hartwell also worked as a production assistant on the movie "Jackass Number Two" and starred in Bam Margera's movie "Minghags."

Why all the hate for this guy?
He did a stupid thing and it cost him his life... The passenger was equally stupid and it cost him his life...
Sure, people who drink and drive kill innocents and that should be a focus... but that's not the case here... these two guys were not innocent and died as a result. I don't see this much piss and vinegar when someone gets a DUI and they are released back onto the streets to jeopardize lives in the future.
I will have the same attitude for DUI, drinking and driving and not getting caught, or dying. It doesn't matter what the outcome is, I am completely against it and the person that does it.

The general public would be significantly more outraged if they knew the stats on all the perps guilty of DUI, caught, and let go with a slap on the wrist. Or the ones that get caught multiple times, slide out of punishment and then kill someone and STILL get away with it with no more than rehab even if its a 3rd or 4th DUI...

There was no way of hiding Bam Margera's sadness.
The Jackass star sat down with E! News for an exclusive and emotional interview discussing his friend Ryan Dunn's fatal car accident.
"It was pretty much the worst news I've ever heard in my life," Margera said.
He also reminisced about his friendship with Dunn and the last words they spoke to each other...
Margera was accompanied by his wife Melissa "Missy" Rothstein for moral support as he recalled how he found out the horrible news.
The daredevil was in Arizona at the time, when he was told by friends that he needed to speak to his brother immediately.
And then he heard the news.
What astonishes Margera even more was that this wasn't the first time something like this had happened.
"He flipped me in a car eight times at the same exact spot in 1996. Thank God I had my seat belt on, because Chris Raab put one on me, but my brother didn't have one on. He flew 40 feet. Thank God he's alive. But like, Dunn was always a maniac at driving," he said.
Bam pulled out his cell phone and read aloud the last conversation he had with Dunn via text messages.
"Stopping for a beer, be there when I can," was the last message sent from Dunn the night his accident occurred.
