Damn, I was hoping for a little pocket of kool-aid, like the deep fried beer guy did.

What they should really do is freeze balls of Koolaid, and put it in the middle, so it has a liquid center when you bite it.

...and put some powder in the batter too (natch).

You're funny.

My stove has an ever present pot of oil on it.

Have you ever deep fried something frozen, even if its covered?

Yes. I deep fry frozen perogies all the time.

Would you deep fry this?

No, but I could very well see that crashing through a wall.

French fries, chicken wings, mozza sticks...

I was thinking a lot bigger. If youve never seen a frozen turkey dropped in a batch of hot oil, you are missing out on some serious fun.

300 people a year learn that the hard way.

Little dough balls with a frozen center won't cause any more drama than a frozen perogie.

Back in hs at the pizza shop we had these little things called baby bakes. They were mini mini baked potatoes that were fried and could be eaten with ranch or cheese/bacon. Half of the time the little fuckers were frozen almost all the way. When you would pull them out of the oil and shake the basket, they would explode all over the place. Molten hot potato fucking hurts....

Seems like what's frozen in the middle would matter more than just the fact that it's frozen. I wouldn't mind dropping a piece of frozen cheese in hot oil, but there's no way I'd drop an ice cube (i.e. steam grenade) in there. It's all good till the dough gets leaky...

Deep frying secret: it's not the fact that it's frozen that causes the boil over and/or grease explosion, it's the ice crystals on the frozen item that causes it.

Rinse off anything frozen with hot water to melt off all of the ice crystals, then pat dry with a paper towel and fry like a motherfucker... Or just do a quick dip or with the basket to melt off the ice crystals... you still get some splatter, but it's much easier than the rinse/pat thing.

Haha that too. If I was working fryer there were managers that would try and sneak attack you with ice cubes. When you would turn around, they would walk by with a handfull of ice and drop it in. Another would try and bounce it off the hood from across the room. And another would throw it through the serving window to the dinnning room. Dicks.
