Any plumbers here?

We have PB plumbing with Quest fittings. Who ever invented this crap and even the person/s that thought of it need to be thrown off a cliff.

I can do the repairs myself but I need to know what to use to replace the valves under the sinks and toilets. I didn't even know Quest could be used in a house. I knew it was used a lot in mobiles homes, but a foundation house. Give me a break you cheap *******s.

So pretty much all the valves leak in some way. The worst right now is both valves under the sink in the middle bathroom. I need to know what replacement valve/s I can use because once I got to cutting, I'll need to turn the water back on.


I was hoping these would work but I want someone that has actually used one on PB piping to tell me it works.

Are they regular pipe thread? If so, you can go with regular plumbing fittings.

edit---- just did a little more checking and it seems they are regular tapered pipe thread.

My BIL swears by the plastic stuff. He uses it exclusively. But I was told you MUST buy the expensive $200 tool to do it properly. Perhaps that is your problem.

PB sucks ass period. Pex is alright. Two different things.

PEX tubing is the stuff in the rolls, that you have to use the tool to crimp or expand the pipe for the fittings to work. But they also have whats called Sharkbite, Gatorbite, or any of those push on style fittings that will work with the PEX tubing. PEX tubing is CTS (copper tube size). So if you are in a bind they make ball valves that are push on style that will work with PEX tubing.

The other style of plastic tubing is CPVC, but for that you have to cut and glue your fittings on, but that is also copper tube size.

As far as threads, any male or female thread are the same on all fittings. As long as you don't get some sort of compression fittings. But all threads on all types of pipe are the same.

Ok yes... it's pex that he likes. He even re did his boiler heat with that stuff.

As far as shark bite... I used those on copper. They are awesome!
