It needed a good carb tuning thats all. Still ran top notch.

Weird thing about Buells is that the harder you beat on them the better the mileage is.

I did a run last year where we ran 170 miles hard (Skyway, Deals, other roads) banging off the rev limiter most of the way. Got 180+ miles before the reserve light even came on.

Regularly get 50mpg and I got the "race kit".

Congrats drewp, maybe it just needed 20K for break in.

I've seen 45 or better a few times on the instant economy meter.

yeah... best I've done by my numbers on a tank was 34. the "average" is up to 32 since my track day... got 25 for the day on the track.

My bike usually averages about 40 mpg; if I really baby it ( but who wants to do that LOL ) I can squeak out alittle more but most of the time 40 is my limit and sometimes alittle less because I ride hard.

33.24mpg for my last tank on my bike... Kinda surprised that I got 17.09 out of the last tank on my truck. Mostly commuting for both, barely any highway.

You can ride a Buell XB pinned to the limiter from the time you start it, until it's empty and get 40mpg.

Makes it even crazier knowing that by the end of my Buell's run, I was only getting about 8mpg.

40-42 MPG every tank consistantly with the 01 Gixxer 750. This is beating the bag out of it most of the time and mixed highway city mileage. I have always wondered if I babied it for a whole tank whats the max MPG i could get out of it. Funny how I can never baby the thing though.

i dont know but one time i got over 175 miles to the 4 gallon tank.... is yours fuel injected? low light comes on with 135ish miles and has about a gallon left. The thing is my bike appears to burn a tad rich and if i got it tuned i would think it should get better

yea, fuel injected-00-01 is the same bike as far as i know, cept they fixed the tranny i think. last three tanks, the low light comes on at 127miles, and when i fill it up at that point, it fits like 3.9-4 gallons. just has a slip on.

thats just it-i dont beat on it. im rarely above 8k rpm, mostly stay around 5-6k, just cruising back and forth to work and stuff, some freeway, but not much. maybe i should start raping it, see if that gets better mileage...even though theoretically that makes no sense.

idk-if thats the case, ill be getting alot of speeding tickets to get better mpg, anything over 6k in any gear but 1st is over the limit, im rarely on the freeway.

cop: do u know how fast you were going?

me: im saving the economy by polluting less, and getting better gas mileage-more efficient. are u really gonna give me a ticket for being eco friendly? im helping make the world a better place for your kids, and grandkids.

cop: yes. sign here.

maybe you should wheelie it alot and bounce it off the rev limiter occasionally and rev out every gear... I use mine as a daily comuter to work on the nice days as well and I encounter both highway and city miles during it

i wind out 2nd and 3rd sometimes for kicks at 4am, but my commute is like 5mins on the freeway, the rest city. max speed limit is 40mph, takes me 20mins max to get to work. usually 10-15min. i ride everyday. maybe the air filter's bad. was gonna do a oil change, new plugs and filter in about a month just for piece of mind, but now i dont wanna wait.

I have a K&N filter on mine and a slip on. I noticed when it gets cold out my mileage takes a dive but a dirty filter could be the culprit. Mine was getting worse mileage right before I swapped out the factory filter.

Well just last night the big thou took 4.3 gallons and it had run 197 on the clock... lets see thats 45.8 MPG! And yes I beat the tar out of it most of the time but it is a commuter during the week. Most of those miles where spend on one wheel... For I must maintain my squid title. I recall getting around 230 on a tank on trips... and that would be 53 MPG... It doesnt seem possible but thats the math.

I just about coasted into the Sunoco yesterday on serious fumes..I put the reserve on, on my way to work the previous morning and then forgot about it till I looked down on my way home and was like.. oh shit!! I think I probably would have been ok for another few miles or so but I was definitely pushing my luck.

oddly enough, this last tank im at 140miles, and the fuel light hasnt come on yet. last few tanks, the light came on at 126-127 each time.

only thing i changed was now when i get on the freeway for those 5mins, i make sure i see triple digits on the speedo. same gas, same destination, nothing else changed. i just rip it up to 85, do a quick check of my surroundings (its 4am) and then open it up alil more and cruise at 105 for alil bit-barely a min, cuz then the freeway ends and i make two sweeping turns and im at work. 12mins total trip this morning. it does have the stock filter on tho, still probably gonna change it.
