It is badass!!! Well... up to about the last 3/4. They really should have cut about an hour out. All kinds of redundant plot devices, shallow moral relativity nonsense, pseudo philosophical bullshit and straight up preaching to the audience. Really let down by the ending.

Anyway, up until that last unnecessary hour, it's AMAZING. Best movie of the summer by far. Fantastic action, great writing, hilarious acting by heath ledger (the pencil scene and the hospital scene are the best), awesome gadgetry (MV Augusta and lambo reventon) the bat bike is sick, cell phone transmitter concept, air pick up balloon is sick and the eye candy at bruce waynes side is not bad either.
Oh and I'm guessing it's the biggest hit of the summer. The Brandon Lee effect is in full swing. I'm in allentown PA and the local movie place had 7 huge screens almost full seeing it at a midnight showing.

The previews made the new terminator looks badass as does the watchmen.

Or local theatre had 7 screens open too. People started camping out on Wednesday morning. I can't believe that, even the day after Thanksgiving, I mean come on.... My ass is staying in bed, you couldn't even pay me to go out with those......
But yeah, I just found it funny that even in Fargo, ND people were camped out to get tickets..

so does heath ledger deserve the oscar for his joker portrayal? interested in seeing what the average movie-goer thinks, instead of all the critics.

Nah, just a newer really big screen with great sound.

It was a really good performance but if he gets the oscar nod it's because he died. He was creepy and awesome but I'm not sure if it's the performance of the year.

Def a bad ass flick. Many local movie spots near me sold out showing it on MANY screens. Lowes showed it on ALL 17 SCREENS and sold out. Place dave and I went sold out 4.

I honestly think it was the best joker yet. Im sorry to say it, and you cant say Im too young to appreciate jack, Im 27 and I am a HUGE bat man fan. I just think Ledger nailed it. Lots of play on the voice and using the scars. Perfect.

I do however have to admit towards the middle there was some stuff that I felt couldve been cut. I had to work this morning and for like a half hour of the movie I was def thinkin it should end so I could go to bed for work.

It definitely was a fuckin great movie. I was very impressed with it and I think Ledger did a perfect job as the joker. It did seem a little bit drawn out but nothing too bad IMO. All in all I absolutely recommend going to see it.

I haven't watched it yet but I hear it's hilarious!!! Hellboy was better than the first, less serious, more comic book-ish.

I liked the whole movie and I thought that story ran well all the way to the end. I am not impressed with that Maggie Gyllenhal chick though. I just didn't buy her character. I wish that Katie Holmes was playing that character. I did like the transformation of Two Face.

Jack Nicholson and Tommy Lee Jones were great as The Joker and Two Face but they were rather comical (based heavily on the original comics and TV show), and nothing wrong with it. But this new Batman series with the more noir aspect, I like the new Joker and Two Face a lot better.

thats one of the reasons i like these new movies yet, they're actually set up realistically, which is the trend with comic movie remakes lately. even this movie stepped away from the previous movies gotham city "ultra gothic" look with the looming rail cars and dark futuristic atmosphere. The old movies were more like broadway shows than actual movies, kind of teetering on the edge of a bad dream and a made for TV movie.

I agree about katie holmes, i didn't like Gyllenhal as much. Luckily she... er. never mind.

i loved the part in hong kong that was a great sequence. also thought the introduction of the bat cycle was perfect. This sequel has brought the batman series to a whole new level, wonder where they're gonna go with the next one.

Im with you on everything. I really wish it woulda been Katie Holmes too, but still a great movie.

He went to jail, that was the ruling. He'll team up with somebody else proly. The Joker will now be part of his legacy. No one will remember him as the guy in Brokeback. He's the fucking Joker, man.

His headgear is made from some composite, maybe Dynema?, so that absolves him from squidliness....

I have watched it a few times now and ready to give my decision on the movie. I do not do a review til I have seen the movie twice. Hype, not grasping all the plot twists, and other things get in the way of making an accruate assestment.

My thoughts, the movie was decent. It wasn't epic or great, it was just plain decent. Compared to the crap hollywood has been churning out lately, it's great because the rest of the movies are shit, but in the grand scheme of things it was ok. Heath Ledger as the Joker was above average. He did a good job, definitely not oscar worthy though. The plot twists and reversals were a bit much. They really over thought that and put too much emphasis on the characters one uping each other. The bat bike was gay, plain and simple. It is probably tied for my second favorite batman movie tied with the original michael keaton Batman. I thought Batman Begins was better because of the league of shadows/bruce wayne to batman origin story was a pretty good change of pace. The ending of the Joker battle was too abrupt, it just lacked finality to it. After all the crazy plot twist and turns, it kinda just said boom we're done that's it off to a really shitty quick story about Two Face. Too much hype because Brokeback "accidentally" overdosed...

I loved it. Then again, I own all previous Batman movies, including the 1966 epic with Adam West.

It was a bit long but fuck it. It's Batman and it rules.

Still the king:
