So this past Thursday I had sinus surgery done; a septoplasty to correct my deviated septum and I had a turbigen reduction. So Im having pressure headaches and my teeth are hurting etc. I decided to look online to see what these splints are that are currently in my sinus cavities. Holy shit. Do a search on You Tube for septoplasty splint removal. I'm counting the days to this Th when he'll remove this shit. I've been sitting here for 20 minutes watching videos enviously. I think I may have wood.

I had something like that, not for deviated septum but for tubinate reduction. Was bleeding like a siff for the first couple days after.

don't they have to repack them after the first removal? I've heard the scar tissue removal is exciting.

I've got splints - no packing inside. Just drip packing on the first day.

This guy has the same things I have. Doesn't hurt when coming out like gauze packing does but I have headaches and my jaw hurts. 3 days to go.

I had to look up what this was...seems like alot of people have complications with this. Was this a last resort kind of thing or what?

I've always had sinus issues my whole life - having my tonsils removed back in '02 was of tremendous help. The sinus/ear/throat infections pretty much stopped after that.

But since we've had our son, I've been constantly sick and miserable. It's an endless cycle. Little kids are walking petri dishes. He gets sick at day care and brings it home. I catch it, sometimes the wife does to but overall she has a better tolerance built of kids' bugs since she is a school teacher. Problem is, since my septum is (was) deviated, it hindered drainage in my left passageway. To boot, my turbinates that are near my sinus drainage passageways are enlarged and seem to be (were) covering up the drainage paths. So basically, I would get sick, not be able to drain and I would seemingly never get better, to the point where the bacteria would be trapped and it would turn into an infection. I would end up having to keep taking potent anti-biotics. This has been going on for a year now.

My Dr. also said this should improve my ability to breathe through my nose while exercising - something else that has challenged me my whole life. I've always had to breathe through my mouth while jogging, working out, etc. Should also help me sleep better. I just hope this will finally improve my quality of life because I've been miserable the past year.

This was me Thursday afternoon after my surgery; I was in another world on the drugs they gave me and with the anasthesia still being in my system.

I can assure you that life will be MUCH better. Had sinus/septoplasty surgery done in October 2009. Had sinus polyps and a deviated septum. Woke up w/headaches in the morning because I wasn't getting enough air at night.

Pablo Stolovitsky at GA Ent did my surgery. Splints up my nose drove me NUTS. Use the sinus wash religiously to help get the yukky stuff out (even w/the splints in), and keep scarring down. He followed me for year after the surgery because they used a new type of "stealth" procedure. It's been amazing!

Oh, and I haven't had an upper respiratory infection since. :-)
