The glam-band wailer will be remembered for his wild hair and wilder personality.

Lane, who provided lead vocals/screams for glam rock band Warrant, was found dead in a California hotel room Thursday evening. According to TMZ, Lane's body was discovered "unresponsive" at the Comfort Inn hotel in Woodland Hills, Calif., around 5:30 p.m. No cause of death was immediately released, but law enforcement officials told the Los Angeles Times that alcohol and prescription drugs were found near Lane's body in the motel room.

As frontman of Warrant in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, Lane penned the group's biggest hit, “Cherry Pie,” released in 1990. He joined the hair-metal band in 1986 and was infamous for his revolving-door attitude in fronting the band: he left in 1993, rejoined in 1994, and quit again in 2004. But his success with Warrant is indisputable. Lane wrote five top 40 hits for the band, whose albums notched up sales of more than 8 million albums.

A heavier and seemingly downtrodden Lane appeared on VH1's Celebrity Fit Club in 2005 to clean up his act. A photo surfaced in 2008 featuring Lane prominently as Warrant's lead singer, but within months, he was off the roster once again. In his later years he was known to have a slew of alcohol-related issues. In 2010, he was jailed for 120 days after receiving two DUIs in just over one year.

The blond, leather-loving Lane was born John Kennedy Oswald in Akron, Ohio. He found a penchant for the drums at an early age, but his energy and good looks pushed up toward the microphone. He headed to Los Angeles in 1983 at the age of 19 to pursue stardom.

And stardom he indeed found. As he writes on-stage antics put a smile on our face ten miles wide. Relive (and rock out to) his greatest legacy, "Cherry Pie."

And, how one gets there:

Fame? Victim?

Please.....I thought it was his stubborn refusal to lay off the alcohol and drugs that did him in.

Sorry....I don't waste much time mourning junkies. :idk:

Gee, I have no idea what drove him to drink.

Maybe it was the Cherry Pie?

Gee, ya think? How'd you like it if the most insignificant thing you wrote went on to fucking define you?

I guess unless you're an artist, you don't actually fucking get that, do you?

Yeah, to women, banging someone famous is even better than banging someone who's actually attractive. :skep:

Hell, I bet even Autograph got laid.....check out their "Turn up the radio" vid and you'll see what scrubs they were.

Now, Winger's lead singer (forgot his name).........that guy had both talent and looks. You go onto any of their Youtube vids, you'll see tons of chicks talking about how hot he was. He did have the "classic" male facial features.

the lead singer from autograph hit every branch of the ugly tree on the way down.

Kip winger was/is a talented bassist/guitarist and had 2 very good guitarists in his band but they werent realy showcasing any of that, it was just the catchy pop/hair metal hooks for the most part, but thats what sells.

I was living in the Akron area when Warrant was big. They'd stop in the local bars and play a few tunes or just hang out and drink every time they were in town for a big gig up in Cleveland. I've seen them play maybe a dozen times and sat down and drank with Jani a couple times. He hit on one of my gf's pretty hard one night

Great guy, great singer, great showman, and even wrote some pretty decent songs in amongst the fluff.

Sad to see him go so early.

Yes, we know. Your better than everyone else. You would never do anything wrong. Bla, bla bla...

You wont feel quite the same when its your child or family member who 'starts down that road'...

If the bar is set THAT low...that to be "better than someone else" all you have to NOT do is ruin yourself with drugs, then yeah.....ok.

You'll be in here going all Charlie Sheen if we keep this conversation going....regaling us with stories of how wonderful cocaine is for you or any other asinine rationalization you can come up with to cover up the fact that smoking/doing drugs/allowing yourself to become an alcoholic/junkie is STUPID.

Stupid, maybe. Doesnt make them any less valuable of a human being, period.

I have nevber, ever argued that drugs are good for anyone, so stop the bullshit. I do believe they should be legalized, and people should have the choice. The money spent on 'the war on drugs' and jailing people for drug use could be far better used elsewhere, not to mention that taxation of these drugs would bring in billions in revenue. Those who want to use, will use regardless. Those who dont, wont.

If you try to say differently, you dont have a fucking clue.
