Really. I'm not kidding.
http://www.nj.com/cumberland/index.ssf/2011/08/vineland_woman_charged_with_po.html
Robles handed over his license, which the officer discovered was suspended. He also discovered that Robles had a $750 warrant from Vineland, a $385 warrant from Elk Township, a $235 warrant from Egg Harbor Township, and a $106 warrant from Woodstown.
He was promptly arrested and asked his passenger, Bailey, to drive the car home.
The officer insisted on checking her license and found that in addition to it being suspended, she was wanted on a $114 warrant from Northfield.
Thats the reason they were arrested, but the prescription strength Ibuprofen was in someone elses name

Suspended license, suspended plates, warrants......and she was in possession of someone else's prescription drugs.
This link def. has a liberal spin to it.
I dunno about liberal, but its spinning something

These nitwits had enough to be charged with. Looks like both of them had quite a history.
Still...Ibuprofen? Really? I mean, you can buy it in the store.
It's reaching.

So I guess if you buy a couple of big bottles of motrin they can nail you for distribution.
isnt vineland a shithole area though we go through there when we go to NJMP

not if its the prescription strength, its out there, but at the same time perfectly illegal enough to charge them with

Not in prescription form... Since it's a prescription and it wasn't theirs, that's illegal. You post a ridiculous article where cops don't enforce the law (the situation) and then bitch about when they do. Cops enforcing the law = bad. Cops not enforcing the law = bad. Nobody wins... I mean, maybe you're just so important you should tell cops which laws to pick and choose enforcing.

Given how much else they had going on with them, I am sure they just wanted to throw the book at them. Can't say I feel sorry for these people, they should of just went with store bought instead of someone else's prescription, but given their record it's probably lucky that's all they had with them.

If they had a regular OTC bottle of ibuprofen I could see the reaction. But having shit loads of prescription drugs is the same if it's Valium, Vicodin, or ibuprofen.

I kinda disagree, theres no real street value for motrin, where as vicodin, valium and even sudafed are sold/used illegally.

True, but I'm sure you know, a prescription is only meant for one person.. There are physical as well as legal issues with sharing.
Just because one can get you high and is worth a lot more on the street than the other doesn't mean there should be a double standard IMO.

I wonder though, if it were a large bottle of antibiotics in a different name would she have been charged with distribution..

would be a stretch but it could be if there were a shortage or if there was something like an anthrax scare and cipro became like gold

Distribution? Really? Anyone can go buy it at the supermarket.
Reaching.
Unnecessary roughness.
Fact is, it's a political move. It will likely be dropped, but is a way for cops to signal the judge that they're fucking pissed.
It's a statement.
It also says "we're being dicks". It also wastes court time, and everyone's money, including the taxpayer's.
Are these people nice folks? Probably not (safe to say, I think).
Is this necessary? No.

I don't see why this drug needs a prescription if you can just take 4 pills instead of one. :idk:

That's just it. It's a technicality, and they're beating her up with it. Padding her charges, if you will. It's nonsense.

so the leeches can get it for free from medicaid. Had that arguement in the er a few times. Youre not having medicaid pay for motrin when youre sitting there palying withte latest smartphone ;)
