Wouldn't that be redundant with a remake of "The Thing" already coming in October? (which I was not particularly happy about, except that it stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead. :wink:)

I liked The Thing, it was ahead of its time. My favorite was when the decapitated head sprouted spider legs and walked away.

Ahead of it's time in what way? Effects? Because John Carpenter's version was a remake. This new one coming out will be the 2nd remake.

It's one of my favorite movies in the genre. First time I saw it when I was young it was creepy and suspenseful as Hell.

I thought the one coming out this year was a prequel, not a remake. It's supposed to lead up to the John Carpenter version.

Okay, I can deal with the idea of a prequel. I was having trouble imagining Mary Elizabeth Winstead as any of John Carpenter's characters (particularly Wilford Brimley :lol:).

A prequel sounds cool, but I'm not sure why it has to use the same "we dont know who the monster is" schtick

Because this is before they the "we dont know who the monster is" but still within range of the "we don't know."
