Yeah, and in 5 years they'll be selling those trucks for $3,500... with only 25k miles. :gofurslf:

Man, the snorkels were barely above water... How the hell were they seeing where they were going and breathing?
just saw the video on fox news, hehehe, they said it wasnt the drivers fault, that they were driving to save some stranded people and it was the only way to get to the other side of town. So I looked up manville, and you can enter from any of a hundred directions

Thank god we didn't have anyone THAT dumb during our flooding this year!!
For those that care... Those were M1078 LMTV's (guess they could have been M1083's but probably not)
Weight approx 17,000 lbs
Max fording depth, without fording kit : 30"
Oh, and the "exhaust" the camera guy was talking about is actually the air intake. The exhaust is in front of the left rear wheel... at about 30"

"Army, bro!"
Like as if they could see where they were going.
I also like how the cameraman talks tough, but of course, not loudly enough to be heard by them.

Ok cutty but what about the with fordging kit
Ok cutty but what about the with fordging kit
obviously to the depth of the exhaust tip

But what I'm saying is... those holes have to be at least 8' high...

as long as you kept the motor running, you shouldn't have a problem... right? the pressure of exhaust would keep the water out... now if you killed it... you're fucked

Correct

I think its the lowest part of the air intake that will take in air/water. So as long as it was sealed up and the engine remained running they should be ok like others have said.

yeah, depending on if theres enough pressure to keep it moving out. eventually the depth/pressure is going to overcome the exhaust. LMTVs also have an electric fan clutch you can disable for water fording

idling maybe not... but moving, running the RPMS up, I'd think there would be... pressure that strong wouldn't hit at 8' unless there was a rage'n current which would sweep the truck onto it's side anyways.
either way dudes are mororns, good rule of thumb, if your head is under water, it's too deep to drive across

Yeah that should be a common sense rule of thumb

60". At that point there is an electronic box that is ill protected from water that can get fried if it gets wet. Retarded design...

Yeah, probably one of many reasons that the truck died.
Hate to have to do the paperwork on that one...

Yeah, had a cop in the cab. Not sure if it was a PAO guy in the back with a civilian, or if the civilian was a reporter/photographer or what. Just saw the big fancy camera that probably doesn't work anymore
