We are comfortably cool, with sunny skies and a nice breeze. Fuck the rest of you.

First was Irene soaking thru my basement wall on the east side of the house. Minor flooding in the basement.
Then the rain continued. Today was the first day in a couple weeks it didn't rain hard.
The water table is up so high, the water is percolating up into my basement. We have some old carpets on the concrete but we've thrown them out due the excessive amounts of water that soaked thru the floor.
Compared to what some folks are going thru, this is only a minor inconvenience.

My friend Jess lives in Belvidere NJ and although he lives four "city blocks" from work, he has to travel well out of his way to get to work. He said the entire low sections of the town are flooded.
My mother in law & brother in law( and his wife ) are up in Ontario Canada right now. They've had their vacation extended until at least monday due to flooding around Binghamton NY. ( and futher up in NY plus flooding in upstate PA in the Wilkes Barre area ) Binghamton has set the all time record for a year's worth of rain. There are over 100 days left in the year.

It's been sunny and beautiful up here in the pacific northwest. We definitely have no room to bitch about the constant winter drizzle.

A friend of ours in Athens, PA just lost everything on the first floor of his home. All bikes, tools, extra vehicles...so sad...whole roads destroyed, bridges compromised, homes lost...enough is enough...
