Congrats. Tech is a tough one. I just got WAPS materials yesterday for my test in a few months. I have to learn everything for my brand-new SKT in the next few months.

Fuck that. I'm finally getting forced towards 6, probably next year. We'll see how long I can stretch that one.

Yeah, but you still can't understand it. When you make MSgt you get one that translates officer speak into smart. There's no punctuation though.

I dissagree with you on this. You dont understand officer speak because you got promoted to e-7: you got promoted to e-7 because you understand officer speak

congrats.

And AF is pretty easy to figure out the whole stripe thing. E-1 is a stripe without the star. E-2 is a stripe with the star. Everything else, just add 1 to the number of stripes and you know where the person is on the pay scale.

It's a lot better than memorizing eagles, propellers and shit.

Yeh, if you see it every day its super easy, but for someone who doesn't see it every day its confusing as shit.

Not quite.

E-1= no stripes, or slick-sleeve.
E-2= 1 stripe
E-3= 2 stripes, etc.

Just count the stripes and add one, and that's the pay grade. It's really the easiest of all the branches.

maybe they've changed it since I was in. Either that, or my memory is fading in my old age.

It's changed a couple of times, but that's the current iteration. It's nice because it's incredibly simple.

I found it one of the more difficult to distinguish on the fly, especially the difference between E-4's and E-5's, E-5's and E-6's. Don't even get me started on being a Marine and trying to address a senior enlisted Air Force member by rank...

"Yes, Chief Master Senior Air Sergeant First-Class with a Cherry on Top. No, Senior Master Awesome Good-Job Sergeant Major Air Assault"

Of course, the absolute hardest to pick out on a walk-by are Navy Chiefs in khakis. You damn-near need a pair of binos to count the stars right.

Congrats... I got fucked by doing a special duty... In my normal career field, I'd have made it by 5pts... missed it as an MTL by 14pts... oh well...

Usually our cutoff in my career field is insanely high. I only have one medal that counts for points although my expeditionary has more leaves than anyone else in my squadron I've seen so far. Thanks for the congratulations guys.
