Don't know what to say at all. Except this is a horrible start of the week.

He had been riding that same road every weekend for the last 3-4 years at least. I met him a couple times, even bought a bike from him sight unseen.

I had been thinking about doing a weekend down there, and seeing if he was around.

RIP

Anyone know where his family lives? I seem to recall he's from the Chicago area.

If this is really him, I want to do something for his family if they don't mind. No matter his opinions, he was an avid twfix poster and will be sorely missed.

Anyone got some good pics of him handy. I am going to have to search the potm entries otherwise.

Even though I don't post much anymore on the boards, I am very sad to here about this news of Bill's passing... He never wavered on his beliefs and I respected him for that. He was GM Strong for life and always trained harder to be the best... We all had some great memories back in the CF days and here, but obviously this news today is very heart breaking... RIP 101Lifts2... May you rest in peace and may your family both in real life and on these boards that we have shared all these years be comforted.

R.I.P. Bill

Even though I have not talked/rode with him in a few years, I probably knew him better than anyone on here or CF.

I have ridden with him quite a few times, all over San Diego and up in Riverside a few times(although I never did ride Ortega with him), Palomar Dragstrip ect. One of the very few pics of him I can't find right now, but he came down to San Diego quite a few years ago and rode with me and Homeslice. Great ride. I even bought one of his bikes, which he gave me a GREAT deal on.

Bill was very well spoken and educated, even though he pissed some people off here and on CF a few times, if you knew him, it was all in good fun. He gave me tons of advice, from motorcycles to nutrtion/health...and he would not hesitate to help others(who he did not even know) out in those areas. One thing I can say is, most of us go through spells where we need to take a break from rididng. Bill never did, he was as passionate about motorcycles in the 10 years or so I knew him. He was a true motorcyclist.

Very true....He traded bikes every 18 months or so, whenever he got the urge. But he never really made an announcement when he bought something new, you'd just suddenly see a different bike under his screen name. He would flip back and forth between 600's and 1000's and twins, just whatever suited his fancy at the time. He even "settled for" a Ninja 500 for commuting duty. He'd throw $2-3K worth of suspension mods on some of them, but he wasn't a bike night type of guy, he didn't buy stuff to show it off. Same thing with his cars, they weren't just GM vehicles ---- He owned a Volvo once, I think an Audi, and even a base Golf. Stuff that made you scratch your head, but it made sense to him.

This is an email I got from Bryan, his workout partner. I asked if it was OK to post it here and he said yes

Yeah, Bill was my training partner, room-mate, best friend, mentor, savior, and the father I never had. He was and still is the most important person in the world to me, more important than any relatives. My love for Bill is more powerful than any I've ever had for any girlfriend, or relative, and this is no exaggeration.

We originally met over the internet in 2006 via bodybuilding.com's message board, because he was seeking a personal trainer. Shortly after initial greetings we began talking over the phone, and our conversations were always more friendly than business, with most of the actual training stuff being done through e-mails. We did that for two years, and never met in person during that time, but during 2008 things began to change. My work dried up to the point I was already starving, about to be homeless, and had no hope. Bill provided that hope, and did something you would only expect to see in movies - he took me in, put a roof over my head, and helped me get back on my feet. During a time where I was a shell of a person he became my emotional support; whenever I felt like I was slipping back he would pull me back up. He was tremendously gentle in how he did it, and exercised a level of patience over the years that is frankly beyond my comprehension. He was my rock of Gibraltar.

Bill was consistent in how he treated all people he came into contact with, even over the internet (although he did love trolling people on the internet, as I often stood over his shoulder when he was doing it, but it was usually just in good fun without hurting others, he was always very wary of hurting others). There was never any exaggeration with him, he was always honest, principled, and had integrity to spare. He wasn't a guy that changed based on the people he was surrounded with, and this is why those close to him developed familial relationships. You often hear of someone that will give you the shirt off their back, Bill would give of himself everything he possibly could even if it put him in a disadvantaged position.

Bill didn't attach much importance on material possessions, and paid them very little mind. He had a general disdain for money, and didn't take it too serious, only spending it on the activities he really enjoyed (lifting, riding). If anyone he knew needed monetary help he was the first person to step in, sacrificing something he wanted to buy if necessary, and he would always refuse any attempts to return the favor. He always seemed to be moving in different worlds than other people, like there was something other-worldly to him. A very calm, complete understanding of the world that seemed to drive everything he did.

It's funny you talk about his discussions about diet - I can vouch for it that he absolutely executed that clean diet all the time. He would have a cheat meal 1-2 times per week, and even the cheat meals were quite clean (we're talking fajitas at restaurants, where the only thing "dirty" is the tortillas). He also loved sushi, he was so enthusiastic for it that it makes me smile now to think of whenever he'd talk about it. Aside from that, 5 meals per day, every day, and squeaky clean. He didn't complain about it, although I would have a lot of fun needling the obvious visual distaste he had for tuna, but ate twice a day every day.

At the visitation yesterday - His family was very down to earth

Turns out Bill played sax as a kid......Went to tech school after HS so that he could work on cars. After a couple years (?) of that he got accepted into GMIT for electrical engineering. Worked in MI for awhile after that, but later transferred out to Cali, with year-round riding being one of the motivations.

As part of his job, he went to Japan a few times. Apparently, a couple of the Japanese engineers he worked with flew out here to attend the visitation. They handed his family a letter from one of Isuzu's Vice Presidents, talking about how much they benefitted from working with Bill.

Among the many pics laid out at the visitation, I thought this one was the best...

I think he sorta did one time after his yellow gixxer got stolen back in '02. I think he had just moved to California about the same time when CF started and he had the yellow gixxer only a few months or so. Then he made a comment about thieves liking gixxers but not Ninjas, which I thought funny.

I guess I looked like some sort of ass in my previous post. Sorry for that, Homeslice.

I shouldn't drag this too long, so I will shut up after this one.

For some reason, this is fairly upsetting to me. It feels so surreal.

I guess I have known 101 for 10 years or so. I thought he was a sort of a-hole on SBN redflip, but I learned that he wasn't a bad guy at all. I remember he got in trouble often, ending up banned on CF at least several times. He was tight with Tarek and Snigg, who also got banned sometimes. I remember he stood up for Tarek and/or Snigg one time, and I think he got a warning because of that. I think Rez got tired of what was going on. I didn't think much of it at that time, but he was loyal to his friends, not just to his belief.

I used to tease him every opportunity I found, and apparently that fairly aggravated him from time to time. I even had an honor of appearing in his signature one time  I pretty much retired from posting on CF and elsewhere in 2003. That is why I learned about his accident this late. After I read about him, I checked my mail box there. I found several old messages from him. One message was asking how I was doing after I popped in after a hiatus. I thought that was sweet of him at that time, and I still do.

One episode about him that I really like is when he sent a helmet, and a pair of gloves (and maybe a jacket, too?) to Snigg. Some people didn't take Snigg seriously. I guess that was because of his age and probably because he didn't have a bike at that time. Snigg didn't tell much about his private life, but he did post one time that he had to wait on getting a bike for a while because he had to financially help his family. One day Singg posted a message on CF that he got gears from 101, and thanking him. Snigg looked so excited, and it was a great thing to see. Maybe I am connecting two unrelated events or stretching my imagination too much. But I thought that was very generous of 101, and definitely coolest thing I saw on CF.

I can't imagine how much his family, co-workers, and friends miss 101. Even somebody like me, who never met 101, miss him a lot. 101, I had a pleasure of getting to know you. Rest in peace, bud.

Thanks for posting. You're welcome to stick around.... really. We all seem to feel a bit lost by this. I miss him, too.

Cool story. Did you have the same name on CF?

I thought Snigg got flack for riding & stunting w/o gear, and owning an R1 as his first bike? Or maybe that was someone else --- It was someone in Kansas or Missouri I think.

Perhaps the reason 101 befriended him was because they both had a similar "irreverent" style. Some people write carefully, to make sure they come across as mature, smart, etc. 101 didn't waste any time doing that, unless he was explaining fuel injection or the Noahide Laws.

I guess I looked like some sort of ass in my previous post. Sorry for that, Homeslice.

I shouldn't drag this too long, so I will shut up after this one.

For some reason, this is fairly upsetting to me. It feels so surreal.

I still have a picture on my old computer of Snigg holding the Gear. Of couse, we photoshoped the hell out of it

Those were good times. Chatting on AIM with 101, Snigg, Tarek and a whole bunch of other familiars. Tarek sort of fell off the map. I still have a screen cap of his profile page from CF. A mod had added "Man Sex" and "Taking it in the dumper" to his "Interests".

Snigg pops up from time to time on forums. I wonder if he has heard yet?

I remember when he sent Snigg the gear. I may be mistaken, but I think 101 MAY have sold him a bike at one point too. I could be mistaken about that though.

Hey azoomm and Red :D

Did you have the same name on CF?

This isn't about me, but my user name there was Metatron. The user name was meant to be something temporary, but when I moved from SBN to CF, I decided to keep it.

I thought Snigg got flack for riding & stunting w/o gear, and owning an R1 as his first bike? Or maybe that was someone else --- It was someone in Kansas or Missouri I think.

I don't remember that, but Snigg was in Pennsylvania at that time, I think. And there was a 16 year-old kid on SBN who bought an R6 or R1 in 2001 or 2000 and got killed, I think. Anyway, I thought Snigg may be from Wisconsin, but that was Shadowninja (spell). Saw him somewhere (SBN?), but he is like 27! Time does fly!

Perhaps the reason 101 befriended him was because they both had a similar "irreverent" style. <snip> 101 didn't waste any time doing that, unless he was explaining fuel injection or the Noahide Laws.

I don't remember most of what Snigg wrote, but he did get excited when the topic got heated up, I think. I couldn't believe 101 was a self-claimed Democrat because he used the word "Jap" sooo freely, and he would work for a Japanese company! I think he did use the word a few times when he was working for Subaru because I made a comment about it. I retaliated whenever he said something that can be misconstrued as being ghey. That is when he wrote that he would love to kick my butt in his signature. Workeant sent me a PM because she thought 101 might have been bullying me

Didn't he also do some sort of "Free Tarek" campaign?

Wow, hey Metatron.

The walk down memory lane is actualy pretty therapeutic.... Doesn't make the situation any less surreal, but it's great reliving those old times.

Bill sold Snigg a bike. Cant remember which it was, possibly the 954 he owned for a short time way back when. When Snigg got there to buy the bike, Snigg had no leathers. So 101 cut 600$ off the price of the bike (When he was already charging Snigg what he owed ont he bike), and took him out to get leathers before he let him ride home. When I told him he was crazy for buyting Snigg leathers, he said something along the lines of 'its only money, its not really important'.

Thats the kind of guy he was. He came across as an ass here a lot of the time, and mostly he was just trolling. But he would bend over backwards to help. He gave me a lot of great advice when I younger, and walking down the wrong path. Cant say I listened to it all at the time, but it sure crossed my mind a lot as I got older. Hard to believe i've known the guy since before even CF existed. I take for granted that many of you people will just always be around on some incarnation of a MC forum, very rarely have I had to consider the loss of members who i've been talking to, making fun of, and arguing with for over a decade now.

Somehow though, everytime he mentioned the canyons to me in a PM or a conversation, I had a feeling that he would push it too far. He got faster as he got older, including on the street according to his stories. So many times people told him he should stick to the track, as he could afford it and loved it. But he loved those damn canyons too.

RIP little buddy. You will be missed.

Yeah Bill gave people insane deals on his bikes...I bought one sight unseen.....he left it at a shop for me to pick up.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately... it's really strange the friendships I've formed in the past decade or so. Never realized those I once thought of as "random forum fodder" would give me such a feeling of loss.

It's strange how these things seem to make everyone reminisce.

Hey, Particle Man!

Thought maybe I should contact Snigg, so I looked up his name on CF. The second thread showed up in search was..."101lifts, Stranger and *****...bring em back!!!!!!" by Inferno  Apparently Snigg was permanently banned, and his name was bleeped out. I didn't look into details, but I can guess what happened. Rez appeared extremely annoyed in the thread, though.

Some wrote 101 came off a-hole-ish sometimes. I don't argue that, but he was never one of self-serving and self-righteous SOB's. CF was a great place, but there were some of them. He had some belief, but did not have an agenda. He also didn't have a "holier-than-thou" attitude, and even if his logic was flawed, he could have been reasoned. Albeit a bit immature for his age redflip, he was so much more innocent than some a-holes I encountered on line. I wish I knew 101 better in person.

Yeah it's funny, Rez was always billed as a champion of freedom, and to some extent he was, his forum was more loosely moderated than most, but it was stupid for him to blank out snigg's name. It's like a drug, if you ban it, it makes it more curious about it.

It's been a year since Bill passed, so I decided to msg his training partner & housemate (Bryan) to see how things were going. He gave me a photo of him at the gym they were using last year. As you can see by the writing on the wall, it's no corporate robo-gym lol. Here he is squatting 335 for 3 reps. His best one-rep max was 405.

RIP 101 (Bill Kaucky)

For sure. Wish I knew earlier how good of a guy he was and not just internet Bill. I was talking with my fiance the other day and when I'm done with school here we'll probably end up in Southern California. I was thinking it would have been cool to ride out with him if he were alive.

I could have swore we lost Bill two years ago by now... hard to believe it has only been one year since I've read new posts from him. It's amazing how perspective on something can alter the concept of time.

Regardless of whether the year seems to have passed quickly or slowly, it still seems surreal.
