Flying out to Seattle soon, and pumped to see it. Anyone else been? I hear there's a restaurant at the top- which looks ridiculously expensive.

Haven't been but if it is like the revolving restaurant on top of the Westin in Atlanta then expect bleh food for holy shit prices. The view is what makes it for any revolving restaurant.
I was in a space needle like building in Abu Dhabi that revolved. That was the absolute shit and the food was cheap as hell. I spent 80 aed for a full meal, drink, and an appetizer which is about $25.
And speaking of Space Needles, I want to do that jump/ride in New Zealand. That looks fun as hell!

It's a nice elevator ride, but the food is way overpriced for what it is.
Have a beer or two at the top, then head downtown for dinner. I don't know what's in vogue in Seattle these days, but there are tons of restaurants around the Pioneer Square/ waterfront area, that are better than Sky City.

I"ve been there several times and that is where I proposed to my wife. The food portions are small, everything is ala carte and it is expensive but very good. You cant beat the view though and the dining room spins while you are eating. I cant remember how long it takes to make 1 revolutuion but it's slow, like once and hour.
If you don't eat there it costs something like $12 to ride the elevator to the viewing deck, otherwise if you are eating it's free.
Don't forget to by the "Weedle on the Needle" book from the gift shop. :)

This.
The restaurant at the top is good for a drink or two, but you will find MUCH better food downtown.

Ivars is just ehh, if you want good seafood, go to Saltys on Alki Beach.
Forget the Ferry to S Seattle, take the Edmonds to Kingston Ferry. PPM is very cool as is the entire waterfront.

Coming from a state where all alcohol sales are ran by the state? I doubt it. i'd do it regardless though.

My permit is good in Wash, lolz. Tennessee works in most states.

So what else is good after about 5pm? No telling when my work day will end. And no seafood...
I'm definitely going to do the Space Needle, though probably not the restaurant, and hopefully hike a bit of Mt. Rainier. $50 entree places aren't exactly where I hang out on my own.

I was wondering how they got away from the building then saw the wing suits. 2 weeks before I got there, some guy who worked on the building jumped off and died. Except he only fell I think 10 stories or so.

Only one of the guys had a wing suit.

You're right.
Though I thought with the really tall buildings like the Burj, you had trouble getting away from it due to the design of the buildings. Which is why that one guy didn't fall but a few stories before hitting the building again.
I wonder what tower they are talking about in Saudi Arabia.

LauraLynne lives in the Seattle area. Though, she has a new baby and is probably beyond busy. Hit her up on FB though, and see.
IIRC, she climbed to the top [outside] of the Space Needle for a radio program a few years ago. I had a video of it somewhere....

Yup - and yup. I haven't done a lot of "must do" things around here - so i'm not much help in that dept!!
There's a great "underground" tour in Pioneer square (you can probably ride Metro bus for free from your hotel...). There's also the duck tour - ask at the hotel, I've heard it good but have no details.
Crab Pot was a good call - after PPM, head down to the waterfront and just hang out, good people watching, some great little stores. Might be on the crowded side since the big deal this weekend is they began demolishing our viaduct - one of the MAJOR streets here in Seattle. It's old and unstable and is being replaced by a tunnel (even if we vote against it - this IS Seattle after all).
Weather is actually warmish for this time of year. It's this wet almost year round though - not enough rain to wear a coat, just enough to get misty.

Saw the media doing the viaduct demo thing
Wished we had more time to do the boeing museum

Ivars was decent for a touristy place , not overly expensive
Had dinner at the space needle, it was the most we've ever spent on dinner $150+, and really wasn't spectacular, but when's the next time we'll be in seattle.
Oh well fun getaway
In air wifi is cool!! Lol
