What's really bad is there is prior art for this patent. There was a windows ce phone back in 05 that had this technology. iPhone did not exist til 07.... They will toss this patent in court. It's already happened in the netherlands, Apple lost.
By the way, this patent was approved in February, dumb non researching journalist is dumb.

Sounds like Motorolla, or someone else who was in the phone business before Apple, needs to go back and retroactively patent the basic idea of a lock/unlock feature for phone functions. Then we could have absolutely nothing in the way of market competition, and Apple would be happy.
Shut out of the phone market, but happy.
But really, this can't be true at all. Steve Jobs was still alive in 2009, when the patent was filed. And we all know now that Steve Jobs was a philanthropist saint who would never do anything to impede progress or monopolize an industry...

I revel in very few deaths and Jobs' was not one of them, but I did enjoy the selective memory hole people seemed to collectively enter when talking about Jobs after his death. All of a sudden Jobs was some anti-capitalist philanthropic design guru doing it all for the benefit of humankind and Apple was his gift to the world? Really? Isn't this the same guy and company that had to boost salaries by something in the range of 30% at their Chinese contract manufacturer in an attempt to head off bad press because like 13 people killed themselves in a year because building iShit sucks so much?
I liked Jobs and I like Apple, but the most amazing accomplishment they pulled off was convincing idiots like the Occupy Wall Street people that Apple was cool and anti-corporate while Apple became the largest company in the world by market cap.

Jobs was a dick and he wanted us to be more like China... He wanted companies to have a lot more freedom to do what the fuck they want to make a profit. He ideas were very much against OWS ideology.
