After that first wreck,
After you lose a friend to a bad crash,
After you go ring shopping,
After your wedding day,
After house shopping,
After you find out a kid is on its way,
After all your friends gave up riding
After the first "You should grow up and get rid of that thing"

So true, I get it enough working in the ER anyway and when karen was pregnant only my dad and my annoying SIL asked when I was selling the bikes and I told them I will seel them when its time for me to buy new ones. Karen never even thought about asking or much less telling me its time to give them up.

yep riding will always be a part of life here. Been through almost that entire list. (never married) the bike clears your mind when needed, picks you up, brings you back to your "center".

35 years and counting.

Buried more than one friend. Stuck my myself under a guard rail at speed, (six weeks in traction), cancer, stroke, two fucked up knees, carpal tunnel, and one carotid artery that's 100% blocked.

I'm riding this Friday, what's your excuse?

Been through most of them and still wouldn't even think of giving it up. I'll be Riding MX Sat and I broke a rib and bruised a few others less then 4 weeks ago.

Gone down, lost several friends, been told I'm too old to ride (and they don't even know about the track days), and I'm hoping the weather's nice enough this weekend to get out for a nice, long ride in the mountains.

I'm just No1 and some No2. You know, if you stay single you dont have to worry about the other shit. Well a little about 5, but if you have to sell your bike to get a house then you're not prepared enough financially.

The last one is just ignorance. Void.

I've done all of the above, except lose a friend to riding, and had times where I considered giving it up just to simplify my life. I'm glad I didn't. Cheers back at you. Keep riding!

How much of the lever snapped off? Just the peg? If so......Wear something other than clunky stiff-ass SIDIs, and you could have still shifted with your foot.

I broke both, and a femur, six ribs, a collarbone, and an arm, all in the same crash.

My wife got wrecked by a car, while riding in the Swiss Alps. Two days after having her broken ankle put into a plaster cast, she rode back to Germany.

Haha, been there too. Bent the linkage bar on the 500 one time. Apparently it wasnt quite straight and I downshift hard. Everytime I went to downshift it would put the stress on the bar and bend it more instead of shifting. I had to turn around and ride home like 15 miles, bending over to downshift with my hand at every turn and light. Pain in the ass....

I have no desire to break any other bone in my body...Ever again. And I dont wish it on anyone. It fucking sucks.

And Ebbs rode with a broken ankle at one rally, Like I said...If I cared enough to do it I would...But frankly I would rather be healed and healthy than run the risk of hurting myself more.

Riding with a broken ankle is an entirely different animal than it would be breaking your tibia and having knee surgery. I.E. Your Wife, and Ebbs.

among other things. EMS got there rather fast, he still had something of a pulse so those guys scooped and ran, coupled with soem overzealous trauma surgeons they flogged the poor guy for a few hrs before he finally died.

It was almost completely broken off and I was in race boots since I was at the track. I was on a 600RR, so I was grabbing the linkage to do the shifts.

They're stiff when they're new (like pretty much any boot), ergo, the Sidi stiffness comment means someone needs to ride more.
