Birthing tip: When the doctor says that he is going to remove the placenta walk out of the room. I don't care if you are holding the child, pass it off to the nearest person who works in the medical field (they are used to the nasty stuff). If you stay in the room, you will be advised to look away, but you will make the same mistake that countless other men have made, and sneak a quick glance at it. Like I said walk out of the room, go for a walk and take your time. The kid will be around for years to come, he can wait a few more minutes to see daddy.

I knew not to look but thats after 30 or so deliveries so I have gotten enough of that nastiness on me. karens OB doc was teasing me durring her delivery too asking if I wanted to see the baby being born. I told her I was just fine at the head of the bed

I like the old school method of staying out of the fucking delivery room, pacing and chain smoking while all of that shit's going on... ONSSP, unfortunately, does not hold that same view... Head of the bed for me...

For my daughter I was at the side of the bed, and that is when I learned this piece of wisdom. My first thought.... my dick went in there. For my son, the kid came out and away I went.

may be several more hrs now, epidural gets shut off for those last big pushes/contractions. Anesthesiologists get all pushy about that. Ours wasnt too happy when i asked him if I coudl do it LOL

My take on that is since I am not doing the delivery it doesnt matter if I am there or not LOL. I was telling wifey if this takes any longer I was going to the bar up the street. She was not amused

Can it really be that much worse/different than other animals? I've aided in the birth of many a cow and horse in my years.

It's not whining... it's a desperate attempt to maintain our peace of mind.
I feel small enough without seeing something the size of a small watermelon squeezing out of a gal's hoo-ha.
