Any Ninja 250 racers here?

We just got a 250 spec class added to our CCS grid for 2012 and I'm thinking of picking one up.

A few guys I know here are the ones pulling the class together.

I've actually considered building a few to rent / loan to help fill the grids.

There was someone in SoCal who had a business renting them. Not sure how well it did -- I noticed him listing the business for sale a year or two ago.

I know the rentmyninja guys in Texas are no longer doing it.

Based on the site they are still around. If I get serious about doing it, I'll reach out to them for input. Right now I'm wishing I had an extra 3 months to make it happen.

I agree, I rode Tiffany's several times and I was underwhelmed to say the least. I've had more fun on a shifter cart.:idk:

I think if you could find a go cart road course that would let you run mid size mini motards up to wr250x size, that would be 1000x more fun than baby ninjas. Wish i could find that here. Hope our new kart track opens and gets that going.

I rather run a moto though, the fiddy races at deals gap are a shit ton of fun.

My daughters have one that we rent out. It's a 2009 that i've put an M4 pipe on and rejetted. My best friend's soon just took a WERE regional championship on his - pipe, suspension, jetting, ecu, etc.

The rentmyninja guy came out to the track a few times, he got out of it because he got an oil-field job that he couldn't pass up.

Personally, I think a Motard is more fun. But, I got the ninja because my daughter could get a motorcycle license before a car license if she was on a250. Done.

The series around me runs a 250 cup. Talked to a guy about riding one. You basically run WOT throught most corners, so its all about line and max corner speed.

Basically I'm too fat to race them.... :lol:

I highly suggest finding a buddy to ride one first then. It was my concern too. They are just not strong enough for a true track and no one runs them on tiny tracks.

My thinking with the 250's is that sure they are slow but as long as they are all equal, the racing should still be fun. I knwo what you are saying though, both our local tracks are horsepower tracks.

Our kart track has a run what you brung policy. I've seen a guy on a SV out there. :lol:

I used to race fiddys but everyone has stepped up to 150R's and I can't justify a $6k mini.

It would have to be a real series for me to run a $6k mini. True championship/points/trophies every race type thing. :lol:

My $1k fiddy is more than worth playing at deals gap a bunch of weekends each year though.

That's why it is a spec class.

There is no "building" allowed. You run spec tires and are only allowed to upgrade a few parts on the bike (exhaust, rearsets, etc.)

It help avoid the insane modding and "guy with the deepest pockets wins". Sure it is a crappy bike, but so is every other bike on the grid!. :lol:

Spec classes are awesome. Plus, while adrenaline is awesome, I have a feeling a lot of people get a little sick of every twist of the throttle being a near-life changing event, amIrite? Slow it down a bunch and it's almost like you can watch the race you're riding in :lol:

I also think a lot of people have a little nostalgia for the bike they started on.
