So yeah, the mustang just isn't doing it for many anymore. Besides the 150k+ motor starting to fade the car itself just doesn't do anything for me like it use to. Performance, mpg, plus fun factor are all raped by the bike. So I'm thinking about getting my first truck. Granted I DO NOT want a full size pick up but perhaps something small with decent mpg that looks nice and I could use to pull small things such as my bike. I'm thinking about the Toyota Tacoma X-Runner. It looks good, performance and gas mileage to match/beat the mustang and has enough power to pull my bike anywhere I need to go. Any thoughts or suggestions?

my neighbors camino looks TWICE as good as that. Murdered out black/pewter rims, same trim, aftermarket leather seats, HIDs... tons of crazy shit. hes also got an old stingray. He likes to do car shows and shit.

el co's kickass, but either they're gonna be too expensive, or you're gonna have to build it up alil.
my buddy just bought a xrunner, loves it. said it handles great, doesnt feel like a cadillac, that floating feeling that most trucks have.

I'd personally be buying something like a little early 90's tacoma myself.
although my preference goes to the 93 Ford Superduty Diesel with a 5 spd and the old IDI 7.3, but I'm a big truck guy, so yeah. now I'm just dreaming there, although I drove(and totalled) one of those once. WHAT A FUCKING BEAST. if you think a 400HP gas engine is badass, this thing would have annihilated it in torque.

They didn't make a superduty in 93. That designation came in 99.
New bodystyle in 00
You have to get at least a 94 to get a turbo diesel.
And yes, a 94 turbo will walk all over a 93 N/A. Owned both, driven both.

That's what my sister just bought - same way... LOVES it.
I just sold a '05 Tacoma TRD with 26,000 miles on it (in MINT condition) - and switched to an '08 Tundra on a lease. I figure it will be a good thing to be able to just hand them the keys in three years as I won't be able to sell that beast.

She went full deal. V6 coupe w/ leather, sun roof, satellite radio. It's a nice car.

if ya get a truck, get something you can put your bike IN is my recommendation. It actually will save you a bit on gas when hauling to do that versus dragging a trailer along, and so long as you have a buddy or 2, ramp, and depending on the height, its a snap to get it in and out...

or you could do like kat and go w/ a honda element... i hear bikes fit in there as well, hah.
I got a '07 Tacoma TRD Sport w/ the 4.0 V6. I only get like 16 mpg on the street. What are they advertising on it? i fucking love it though. Got the 7-year bumper-to-bumper warranty on it, too. This should be the last vehicle I buy for a long ass time. I highly recommend one.

IS that a fact?
this Napa list says otherwise, and YES it does say 1993. See where it says "current vehicle" and 1993 Ford F-Superduty. ours was a 15' flatbed body rig most likely configured for hauling lumber originally. a DAMNED beefy rig.
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f90/automechanic/FordSuperdutyProof-1.jpg
and we also had a 97 F350 turbodiesel, which was alright, but an automatic, and really sucked because of that, and the fact that it was a beat up old truck. I HATE automatic transmissions in trucks like that. Its either 5+ gears or NOTHING in a diesel truck for me.

Ok... Then it was over a 1 ton truck, and therefore considered a "commercial" vehicle.
1 ton (F350) and below are "passanger" trucks.

OK-Ya hooked me. My 6.0 VORTEC 3/4 ton Chevy gets 13-14 MPG TOWING a 10,000 lb trailer with my bike in the bed. Toyos are good for resale-nothing more. Not towing-I get 16-18 MPG.
Not trying to get into a brand war-just look at all the offerings.

How about a 1 ton full size with the turbo diesel and they get between 16-20mpg with power to spare, can haul anything and are quite comfortable, and in a fender bender, you will win.
What did you wind up with?

My dad has a 99 F250 superduty with 7.3L Powerstroke. 200,000 miles on it. Drove from home to KC and back (6 hours total) and home to an hour east on indy and back (15+ hours total) and averaged 22 mpg. He normally gets 16-17 mpg around town hauling a 16 foot trailer with a couple hundred gallons of lawn chemicals in it.
