brake cleaner is not good. Don't use it. You'll thank me later. Get a biodradable bike wash and use that.
Goo-Gone will solve all your problems.

I've read about too many people having brake issues after they use it on their bikes. I use Liquid Performance biodegradable Bike Wash on my calipers when I clean them. That, a hose, and a toothbrush make the pistons sparkle. The difference in braking is noticable as well.

I've always used Breakkleen... well on my truck... not on my bike... but anything that's metal (non painted of course) that I wanted really fuck'n clean... works awesome.... and rids you of those pesky brain cells too if your not in an extremely well ventilated area... like say a wind storm...

Hell yeah, that stuff is great for cleaning almost every part of the bike
I thought this was going to be another PC pining thread. PC you should take advantage of Drewpy more, he is so whipped it's not even funny. He pines about you all the time. You could get a lot out of him if you tried.

I hate cleaning my bike, I dread it becuz it takes for freekin ever..you can blow a perfectly good day away if really get into it and do it right....but damn it's always purdy when you're finished...LOL
Goo gone works great, I'll second that! Use it on nearly every spot that got grease or road grime around it. Always use some kerosene to clean that chain too atleast a couple times a year. Note to self, but the cigarette out first

depending on what kinda brake cleaner u got, itll eat up any surface it touches-i know this from experience, fucked up my rear wheel, swingarm, and caliper in one short spray:panic:
instantly takes paint off, makes powdercoat look dull. no bueno

Oh come on, buddy... :panic:
If you use BRAKE CLEANER to CLEAN your BRAKES and then your brakes don't function properly, you fucked up.
I use brake cleaner all the time. It's an excellent solvent.
Many parts shops will use brake cleaner as a general parts cleaner. In fact, the guy who owns the local GMD Computrack uses brake cleaner to clean all the parts of forks/shocks when he does a rebuild/oil/seals.

You sure you're not thinking of brake FLUID??? Brake cleaner isn't corrosive like that...

Uh, I think the tape would just slide off so fast you couldnt say "Oh shit" before you had the whole rim striped.
For the record RC-51 rims are like no other I have ever seen!
The outer paint will FALL off with a harsh solvent. Shit I think a gas spill would have taken that paint off.
They look like the factory clear coats them over the silver but the rough spokes and inner edge is black powder coated.
Weird stuff... But looks great when cleaned... if you were expecting that!

well, i got a honda back rim, so im hoping itll work. and i was gonna use duct tape. worse comes to worse, i can tape off the polished part with some blue painters tape and throw a light coat of paint on there to get a clean line
