We wanted to call your attention to one of the latest Occupy movements, Shut Down the Corporations, scheduled nationwide for February 29, 2012. The movement calls for non-violent, direct action against members of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), with particular focus on board member companies. The following list, taken from the movement website (www.shutdownthecorporations.org), suggests which companies to target and in what cities:

CenterPoint 360 – Greenwich, CT
Diageo – Norwalk, CT
GlaxoKlineSmith – Philadephia, PA and Raleigh-Durham, NC
State Farm Insurance – Bloomington, IL

Protest organizers recommend using tactics such as sit-ins, strikes, blockades, boycotts, banner drops, culture jamming, and performance. The ‘Shut Down the Corporations’ movement originated in Portland, Oregon, but the website indicates that protests are planned for over 50 cities nationwide, including Riverside, Long Beach, Santa Cruz, Las Vegas, Buffalo, Crown Heights and Brooklyn, coordinated cities in Connecticut, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Tulsa, Richmond, Austin, Phoenix, Provo, Minneapolis, Dayton, Kansas City, Newark, Salt Lake City, Nashville, Medford, Hampton Roads, San Diego, Hilo, Eugene, Madison, Ashville, Corvallis, Fargo Moorhead, New Brunswick, Gainesville, Pasadena, New York City, Des Moines, Santa Fe, Ventura County, Los Angeles, Orange County, Washington D.C., Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, Albuquerque, Huntington and Savannah.

Yep.... I hope they show up at one my facilities. I love calling the cops on idiots... dumb asses don't understand that my work is a secured facility under DOT & Homeland Security guidelines. BUT that being said, our security firm doesn't believe there will be anything at our company assets.

Lobby group: http://www.alec.org/about-alec/

Somehow I think that private corporations will be somewhat less forgiving of trespass, than the various public jurisdictions were.

I am tired of these clowns , Mr. O decided to keep the patriot act , it is about time to use it against these domestic terrorists. Let give them all a Cuban Vacation at Gitmo.

...Challenge our society’s obsession with profit and greed by shutting down the corporations. We are rejecting a society that does not allow us control of our future. We will reclaim our ability to shape our world in a democratic, cooperative, just and sustainable direction.

I can have a productive day at work or I can say something about the above quote.
I need to check my calendar.

And the people working those jobs will show up for work then leave when it's time like any other day. Nothing accomplished.

It's definitely hipster friendly down here. Good thing I bought a house outside Chattanooga.

We like the local Starbucks better, it's called Chatts, but I fondly call it Shatts. That's what happens when I drink coffee anyway, I get the shatts.

I've seen clips.
My impression is that a bunch of hipsters got together to make a show mocking hipsters because the hipsters think the hipsters went mainstream.

I will say that some of it is pretty amusing.

Yup, that's pretty much it. Has some pretty good cameos, from time to time. Penny Marshal was on the last one. They've had Steve Buscemi on it. Kyle MacLachlan played the mayor of Portland, on a few episodes. Heather Graham looked good, in a low cut t-shirt.
