I'm switching to Verizon. Just after travelling as much as I do, they have the best nationwide coverage [even in the most ridiculous of places] and I am willing to pay their higher rates.

The question right now, stay with Droid or go iPhone.

I don’t own anything MAC, and have never used iAnything. I have windows and ubuntu machines. And, I use a Toshiba Thrive tablet. My email addresses are Google hosted and I live by my Google calendar.

Will an iPhone play nice with them?

I’m just really tired of choosing a Droid [I’ve had 3] and they don’t have cases or other accessories available. I use my phone for everything – even running my business with Quickbooks apps, etc. And, I’m sure my new business partners would love me to be able to use Facetime.

Thoughts?

Regular Iphone4 works great. Works fine using itunes and windows and you can skip itunes all together nowadays and do everything using icloud.
Battery life is excellent. iPhone4s is faster but a little worse when it comes to battery life.

gmail and google calendar work fine.

Solid product

Don't know any of those answers, but I'd wait until the 4G iPhone comes out... Verizon's data is RIDICULOUSLY fast...

There are plenty of google apps on the iphone so I think they may play friendly.

I was on the anti-i whatever. I have my iphone 4S and love it. Wife's getting one at the end of the month.

I still won't buy a macbook because they just cost to much.

I've got verizon, and thinking of switching to the iPhone next... though I won't be due till next year. hopefully the 4G will be available, as OSP says... the speed is insane

I agree with OSP. If you can hold off, wait for the next iPhone and hope that it comes with LTE.

I run 3 gmail addresses through my iPhone without problems. It syncs up fine with my Windows machine, but I gave up trying to futz it to work with my Fedora box. One of the rather nice benefits of switching from my old Droid X to the iPhone is not really having to worry about a new phone coming out in 3 months that makes my current one obsolete. I don't have to wonder if my phone is getting the next version of the OS, or how long of a delay from Google's release to actual carrier release I'll have to wait. Wasn't expecting that, but it's a nice benefit. Also, Magpul cases are $9, and are among the best cases I've had for any phone.

This. Whatever phone you get for Verizon, make sure you have LTE. Right now only Android phones have it. The iPad 3 was just released with LTE capability so Id expect the next iPhone to have it.

I have the Droid Razr Maxx 4G LTE on Verizon....I seldom turn my PC on except to game anymore....it's just as fast/convenient to surf on my mobile. Battery life isn't an issue with the Razr Maxx....I can usually make it 2 full days without needing a charge. :idk:

If you go iPhone, wait til they go lte.

Now that I have late, it would be like getting a neutered phone.

My biggest problem going iPhone is I have a non cellular iPad 3 and its a lot quicker to get a new rooted Droid vs waiting for new apple devices to get jail broken to get free wifi tether.

You either have to pay or wait for jailbreak. Apple tries to block jail breaking all the time. They finally got the iPhone 4s jail broken a few weeks ago.

Ive had 3 droid 1's and 1 droid X. ALL of them cant even operate the music app. Fuckers freeze up completely or itll play a couple of song and just stop playing. Say the song is 4:00 long, they would stop at 3:58 as if I had hit the pause button but nothing was ever touched. Then when you open the music app theres no way to kill it. So if ita no working then you have to take the battery out.

I dont see myself owning a phone that doesnnt have a detachable battery unless theyre never made again.

Really, it's probably only 3 months out. Seems silly to get stuck on 3G for 2 years when 4G is as awesome as it is...

What you could do is buy a phone outright and sell it when the iPhone 5 comes out or right before it.

Or buy a used iPhone 4

Plus nobody truly knows when Apple will come out with the 5.

June/July or September/October. Apple follows a very predictable path. They could easily release it in Late June/Early July. They already have the LTE radios completed with the iPad 3, porting everything over to the iPhone will be easy for them. That's going to be the biggest improvement for the 5 and they will know how they work on a large scale starting tomorrow. If there are issues tomorrow, we will know it will be September/October.

I had the same problems with my Droid X. Each Gingerbread update seemed to shut off more and more functionality and fuck my phone up. I got to the point where I just got tired of not being able to do basic shit, like use the camera, access the memory card, send or receive text messages, or stay connected to 3G. So I hit eBay and looked at an iPhone and the HTC Trophy. There have been a few small issues with the iPhone, mostly related to the home button that randomly decides it doesn't want to work, but otherwise it's been nice. When my upgrade hits in a few months, I'll see what the next iPhone brings and take a look at the Windows phones again to see how they're coming along.

I never really had issues on my incredible unless I was trying out an unstable rom and I have just as many resets on my galaxy nexus as on my iPad 3. Only time I pulled the battery was to put the extended battery in it. My wife has been pretty good at finding the bad apps on her 4s as well.

iOS isn't flawless and does have issues, a lot of these issues are just as user dependent as a lot of the droid ones I have experienced. Bad apps, bad roms. Those are almost always the case on a lot of phones.

I have heard gingerbread on Android was terrible, I haven't experienced it cause I went from a Froyo incredible to a ICS nexus. ICS has been really damn stable for me. I run basically a completely stripped rom with just known stable apps though. I don't go seeking shitty made apps.

There are some bugs on iOS that needed fixing, especially for early adopters, that have made me want to throw the iPad (iPad 2 stuff) through the window, just as there are on Android.

I really hope they make a screen inbetween the nexus and the iphone on the next update. Using the 4s is really hard after getting use to the massive nexus screen. The nexus is just a little too big for a phone though.

As for the Droid X, I have never heard anything good about that phone. Every user seems miserable with it.

Well most of them are cheaper made to be sold at cheaper price points. I think the bigger phones are too big, but I also think the iphone is too small. Probably a 4" screen would work best instead of the 4.5 of android and the 3.5 of iphone.

Nope, not true. Your a sheep. Nobody could possibly want an iphone because its a very well designed and built product. If you dont use shitty plastic android phones, you are obviously a sheep. KS_Gregman says so.

Baaaaaaaaaa. :lmao:

Shouldnt you be out rooting your phone, and pretending its somehow different than Jailbreaking?

I know your kind. Im wise on you! I mean Rooting? That to me proves all Droid users are gay.

Homosexuals. The whole lot of you.

God hates fags. Therefore, god hates Droid users!

Now hearing Mac is saying 2012 holiday season for the iphone 5. It's also going to have some metal type case suppose to be 10times more strength.

Heard above on the radio but here's a bunch more... talk about the 5 a bit further down

Why does the case need to be any stronger that it is

It's already 10x as strong as most android phones :lmao:

Everyone that I've known who has had a droid with Verizon, then switched to iPhone after they came out, has LOVED the iPhone. The majority switched because they got tired of problems with the droid.

Add another one to the list.

The screen is actually one of the most brittle though. It doesn't really take a beating.

Meh, but it's $25 to replace vs. the $175 of my last Android....

I'm liking the htc rezound I got and the extended battery is worth it. Makes it look like a hump back but the battery meter barely moves.
