Saw this over on the Ducati forum, they were getting a kick out of it.

I have never actually heard their dry clutch in person, but I found a high quality sound clip of it online just today. I think they sound cool. :)

lol..

Never understood the appeal of that noise..

IMO the only reason people claim they like that noise because it's something that makes Ducatis unique from other bikes........and allows them to justify their aloof attitude.

If you took a newbie who had never ridden before, and played a clip of that noise, he wouldn't go "That's a cool noise, I want to buy a bike that makes that noise".........He'd go "WTF is wrong that that bike"

Aprilia > Ducati

One of the coolest things I've heard is standing at the exit of Ducati World at Turn 1 for the Indy Gp and hearing all those bikes leave one by one after the race was over.

Not for me... I like mechanical noise... It intrigues me... It's a symphony of explosions, friction, and shit in the midst of controlled destruction... It's fucking awesome in all forms...

The noise is just kind annoying for me now. It was different and cool when I first started riding, then the sound just got annoying, but Ducati isn't something mystical and not seen for me. They are just as abundant as Honda and Suzuki at the gap.

The funny thing is that Aprilias are rarer than Ducatis, and just as expensive, yet Ducati is seen as "the gold standard of bikes" for some reason

Nope the ducal dry clutch sounds like shit, makes me think that there are a bunch of little horney garden gnomes with steel condoms on trying to fuck their way aground your engine. Its cool their first time you hear it, but after 5 minutes it gets annoying

Definitely like the Prillers better than the Ducs, they are rare around here as well.

Some of the 2012 models have a wet clutch now.

My local Aprilia dealers has bargain basement prices on all of his stock because he barely sells any of them.

My local KTM dealer is the biggest prick in the world. Went there to possibly buy a super duke, and he spent too much time micromanaging my experience that I told him to fuck off and left.

When Suzuki came out with their GSXR's in 85 or 86, they had a "750 Limited Edition" with a dry clutch: http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view;_ylt=A2KJkIcP7G9PDCEA14uJzbkF;_ylu=X3oDMTBlMT Q4cGxyBHNlYwNzcgRzbGsDaW1n?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimage s.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3F_adv_prop%3 Dimage%26va%3DSuzuki%2BGSXR%2B750%2BLimited%2Bdry% 2Bclutch%26fr%3Dyfp-t-701%26tab%3Dorganic%26ri%3D2&w=500&h=332&imgurl=raresportbikesforsale.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2010%2F04%2FGSXR-Limited-Rear.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fraresportbikesforsale.com%2F1986-suzuki-gsxr-750-limited-edition-on-ebay%2F&size=53.6+KB&name=How+cool+does+that+dry+clutch+rattle+sound%3F&p=Suzuki+GSXR+750+Limited+dry+clutch&oid=2ab097fa3582d374e72ca4720e12fcbe&fr2=&fr=yfp-t-701&tt=How%2Bcool%2Bdoes%2Bthat%2Bdry%2Bclutch%2Brattl e%2Bsound%253F&b=0&ni=60&no=2&tab=organic&ts=&sigr=12ecd1bpk&sigb=140ti41qm&sigi=12avits27&.crumb=tU0PKU1pTRk.
