ADV is very snobbish, they bash anything they are jealous of... They fuckin went off on the Long Way videos.

Yeah... I'm not interested. I had a bunch of them show up to an event and decided to tell me about every hour on the hour how they could do my job better than I can.

I just look at most of them as warriors behind the keyboard.

Unfortunate that there are probably some pretty incredible people on that site that get overlooked because of the terrific drama.

Some of them on there do know a ton of shit and are the real deal and talk shit too. It's a mix bag. I like reading a lot of the threads. Ride reports on there are amazing.

I've been riding with the local Maryland folks lately, very cool people and they whine about some of the attitudes there too. Plus their used gear section is where I got my stich and new boots.

At first I thought a lot of the adv'ers were dicks, too. Now that I've met quite a few of them in person, only one has turned out to be a dick in real life. The rest have all been great people. They talk a lot of shit behind a keyboard, but are actually good people face to face from what I've seen so far.

I don't think I've ever been on ADV, but the jaded attitude isn't surprising, given that "ADV riders" tend to be older, and plus it's a very technical, gear-driven activity, so newbs probably ask the same questions over and over about what to buy, how to pack, etc.
