I've always kind of wondered how there doesn't seem to be any lingering bitterness over Alaska. People hate the US for every square inch of land we own, including many parts of the goddamn continental United States, but Canada just kind of shrugs off the fact that we own Alaska (as far as I can tell).

I suppose the presence of the Soviet Union had something to do with that at one point. But since its demise I'm surprised that we haven't had some sort of uprising out of the Quebecois, or something.

Canada has it pretty good. We block them from having to deal with any really bad neighbors....cough...Mexico...cough... And they have some pretty awesome land and resources of their own. They really could fold up their military and call it a day if they really wanted to.

Well we kinda wanted it, but couldn't match your bid of $0.04 an acre.

No matter what you might hear to the contrary Canadians don't hate Americans, except for the odd wingnut on either side of the border.

You guys are the ones who picked a fight with Mexico, well Texas did anyway, but we seem to be getting more and more of their citizens showing up at our border crossings these days.

The day that we fold our military, is the day that we really need it. Canada has a long and strong military tradition. Hell, it's what built our national identity. I'm damned proud of our troops; not so much of our our politicians treat them.

We're one of the nations on Earth that could be truly self sufficient. We've got oil, uranium, fresh water, farm land coming out our asses.... Being insular isn't our way though.

They use your border crossings?

They use your border crossings?

Yes, when they cross from the US into Canada. Oddly enough once they've illegally entered your country, they don't seem at all reticent about entering our country legally. That doesn't mean that they leave again though.

Well it's not the Mexican government that gives us problems.

Saying Canada has a long and strong military tradition is like saying the US does. Hell, we barely been around for 200 years. We are rookies.

As long as we are here, you guys could just get away with a police force and that's the simple truth. If we go to shit as it appears we are heading, then you guys could use one.

We're a large nation (land area), with a small population. We do what we can. Funny but when people think of "World Police" they think of the USA, when it was a Canadian who created the concept.

As I said, our national identity is heavily grounded in the military. We became a nation, in the eyes of ourselves and the world, during WWI. We came of age in WWII. All of our infantry is heavy infantry. We excel in communications, which is largely what we provide in military actions. We've been a country for less than 150 years.

The USA has a tradition of individualism, exploration, and expansion. You were born in revolution. We were born in diplomacy, but proven in fire.

Are you tripping fucking balls? That idea existed long before both of our countries. You Canadians can be even more arrogant than us sometimes apparently.
Britain tried to do it and Rome tried to do it, just to name a couple.

Yes, I understand that many Americans seem to have an unreasoning hate of that particular organization.

Yeah, it's a great organization. It's awesome when people in the middle east and china try to lecture us on human rights. Great organization all around...

When you throw your hands up and say, "Screw it!" then you get whatever others decide for you.

I disagree.

Carry on...

And I agree with you. If the Mexican government wasn't benefiting, then they would put a stop to it.

So would the US, but according to some, that would be racist.

Just saw on TV a couple days ago that even the word illegal is racist.

I'm actually quite surprised at O'Reilly. He didn't go on for 5 minutes, tearing her a new one, without giving her an opportunity to respond.

The comment about "no filibustering" definitely made my eyes roll though.
